Problems signing free agents?

Having an issue with FA in the online league i'm in. Just trying to sign some low level free agents for my AAA team. I find guys who request minor league contracts, I offer them minor league contracts but then find that they signed with me for a minimum major league deal which means they have to be on my 40 man which is full and was the reason I was looking for these type of players to begin with.

Anyone else been able to sign guys to minor league deals in an online league?

I haven't seen this that I can think of, but I'll try some tests to see if I encounter the same problem.

Mark,

I just did a bunch of tests, and everyone I offered a minor league contract to signed for minor league contract and were automatically placed on the Rookie league roster mid-sim.

So far I haven't been able to re-create your issue.

Are you sure you remembered to "meet demand" before submitting the offer. If you didn't, the default offer is a minimum major league contract. That sounds like what is happening.

I did hit meet demand on every single one of them to be sure, I tried to do it the same way Mark described it, but couldn't get the same results. I'll try it some more, but so far I haven't been able to see this occur in my tests.

I'm sure you did.
I'm not so sure he did.
It's easy to forget to hit "meet demand" and end up with players on a ML minimum contract.
I've done it often enough myself.

I'm as positive as can be that I didn't miss that step but anything's possible. I've tried four more players for the sim that runs tonight. I wrote down the names and triple checked that a minor league contract is what was offered. We'll see how it goes. Thanks for the ideas.
