Player History problem--no line breaks between items in history.

When I open any player's history, the bottom half of the screen ("player history") always ends up with the items all jumbled together, with no line breaks between events in the player's history. The problem is that the game writes the history without putting a line break after each item and before the next date, so that it all jumbles and doesn't read the dates as dates (6/17/2012), but as a number (20120617). It doesn't happen to everyone, but it does to a lot of players. I can manually fix this, but I shouldnt have to do this for every player in the league.

A sample of what a player's history looks like is: 20111121Received a 1-year contract worth a total of $414,000 through automatic renewal.20111215Signed a 3-year contract extension worth a total of $14,670,000 with the <a href="../teams/team_38.html">Cleveland Indians</a> organization.20120101OSA scouting updated ratings (potential): Contact: 42 (43); Power: 67 (67); Eye: 42 (44).20120507Injured on 05/03/2012, diagnosed with a separated shoulder, will miss 2-3 weeks.20130101OSA scouting updated ratings (potential): Contact: 51 (51); Power: 64 (64); Eye: 51 (52).20130324Injured on 03/21/2013, diagnosed with a strained oblique, will miss 3 weeks.

For whatever it's worth, I run OOTP 12 on a Mac. Any ideas?

That's an unfixed OOTP11 bug that impacts Mac users only, and appears to be caused by the way Mac's read the games text files. The same issue might happen on the league/team injury and transactions HTML as well. As far as I know there is no solution or workaround for Mac users, but FWIW the core files are not corrupted or anything, if the same league file is loaded by a PC user the formatting corrects itself.

Thanks for the info. Is there any way to request that the bug be fixed in the next patch?

I've noticed this as well in my MAC version. It's weird though that is seems to be random and doesn't happen to every player

Yeah, I have that problem with my Mac league. I was fixing them manually, in game but it's tedious to say the least and I was worried I would end up corrupting the file so I stop.

I don't like it, but what can you do.

Can you please zip a player history file where this happens and email it to me? You find the files in /news/txt/players and the file name contains the player ID which you can see on the player editor page IIRC.
And I need to know at which line OOTP starts to display wrong content.

Andreas--

I couldn't see an attachment field on the email to you, so I uploaded it here.

The problem starts occurring at 20110802

Thanks.

Thank you! The text file does not show any anomalies... I guess the problem is the function that reads the file when creating the report... Can you please post a screenshot of OOTP with the report in it? And the HTML report file would be cool, too.

Hi Andreas, the newly created history text does not contain the mac line break. (^M). Please see below from a copy and paste of the txt using vim. As you can see, everything added after 7/29 is missing the mac line break.

20050712 Selected to the 2005 ML All-Star game.^M

There's a screenshot of the same player whose file I sent you earlier.

Not sure what an HTML report file is or where to get it.

Good news, the bug is fixed! And no worries, your history files are okay. The upcoming patch will contain the fix.

So are you saying the new patch will realign past history files?

I thought this issue had been brought up in the past, but there was never a mention on having a fix for the issue. The problem was never a deal breaker, however it was kind of a downer to not being able to read a players history.

Better late then never I suppose.

Will you please patch this for OOTP 11 too? The FOBL could really use it.

I would doubt that this small software company would be willing or able to take time out of working on OOTP 12 and OOTP 13 to go back and patch previous versions.
