just found a problem

Missoula Montana is not showing up correctly. Looks like every city in Montana is showing up as being from Sonderjyliand...
this is so odd.

Someone sent me a league they had problems with and I noticed that the nations2.dat file of their league was different from the nations2.dat file that all my OOTP11 leagues used. So I swapped in the .dat file that my OOTP11 leagues created and Voila! The league imported with all the cities in the right states. (And stayed that way on a reload.)

The thing I can't figure out is why the nations2.dat file is different for you guys....

What is the version number of your OOTP11?

Quick scan of the United States (in Explore World) seems to show that montana is the only state messed up for me. all other states/cities seem to match up correctly.

some other mismatches

cities in Japan (Tokyo, for example) is now wrong.
Cuba is wrong (some from Laos, some from Brazil, etc)
Mexico City is showing up in Chhukha
Brazil looks to be "states" in Eastern Europe.

well, the problem is still there in this nations2.dat file. just shifted to different countries it seems.

well i just found the problem again in the league Questdog was kind of enough to look at and try to fix. All states for Italy are messed up. I can overlook it i guess but the problem has not been fixed

it seems my nations2.dat may have needed to be looked at but any changes made didn't fix anything it just moved it from being Canada to Italy

so after hours of playing with 12 thinking all is great i can't get away from this problem

so thats it I'm done till i hear from a Dev that they are looking into this specific problem or that it's fixed i won't touch 12.

I'll be playing out what i can in 11 until some of the better roster sets are out or theres a fictional league that will entice me back to 12

can't import any league into 12 without this problem no matter what i do

I hear ya, but the way I look at it, it's a cosmetic thing. and as long as it's not affecting the major leagues of my world (ie the New York Yankees are playing in Bahrain), then I think I can deal with it.
Tell you what though...in the process of creating a brand new game/world using the world I imported from 11. Saved it as a template and creating a new game using that template. let's see what that does.

So anybody have an update on this? I'm still having the problem, and it's effecting the cities in the main leagues in my universe. I'm hesitant to go ahead with a league with a ton of history with a known problem like this.

Has someone submitted a trouble ticket?

i've submitted one when i first made this post as well as sending them 3 leagues that had this problem. Had a dev port that they were aware of this problem and are watching this thread, that was about 2 weeks ago, havn't heard anything since. Questdog supplied a fix that stoped it affecting all the states in canada, now it's only italy affected.
i'm awaiting on an update as well.

I would imagine it's a difficult problem to track down. I've had trouble reproducing it in any predictable or consistent manner. Also, as annoying as it is, it's merely cosmetic so it may be on the "back burner." That's just speculation on my part, though.

i've been able to produce it every time without fail so dunno
i just hope being cosmetic it won't require a restart but again i dunno

But is it just cosmetic? If I have a franchise in Winnipeg and the AI thinks it's in Libya, does that impact me signing free agents? The weather? Dynamic league evolution?

If it's really just cosmetic I'll live with it. But I'm skeptical.

Well, if I were a free agent, I certainly wouldn't want to go play baseball in Libya... I'm pretty sure it's just a cosmetic thing, though, names getting jumbled up in the database during import. But I really haven't looked into it much beyond simply the state/region names being wrong, so I really don't know.

I think the game uses Latitude and Longitude to determine location, so the name of the states is irrelevant. You can also see on the teams' Option and Ballbark page whether they are in fact in the country they should be.

Yea I get this constantly on every import from OOTP 11. Very reproducible so hopefully Markus can get a fix in the next patch for this. I'm hoping it's cosmetic and will fix my existing leagues as well. I'd be happy to do any testing if needed.

I will try to build a feature that "updates" and corrects the world data in your existing OOTP 12 leagues. It should read the world_default.xml file and "merge" it into your (imported) league.
