I can't seem to get this working....my graphics are messed up. When I start the game, I can't read anything. Even when I change the resolution. Any suggestions?

These may be unrelated issues - I'll respond to SonnyRed, and if it sounds like the same thing then Skywalker assume I am talking to you as well
. If it is something different, make a new thread so SonnyRed can get his issue fixed.SonnyRed (BTW welcome to the forum):
quote:
I can't seem to get this working....my graphics are messed up. Assuming it has never worked, I'd say open up the program "Graphics Setup.exe" that is in your OOTP4 (or STB) folder and try disabling or enabling fullscreen mode and 3D mode. I would try it at both of those area's disabled first. Then I'd make sure your monitor resolution was set to a 1024x768 minimum screen resolution, and that your displayed system colors was set to High Color mode (65,535 color). Then I'd reboot if I had not done that since the install, and then try the game . If it still does not work I'd install updated video drivers and repeat the above steps.Good luck and let us know what happens SonnyRed |

Thanks for the welcome...
I just purchased the game last night. It never worked for me. I tried you suggestions. It worked in 800 X 600 size. But, the graphics are really small. It's very hard to read anything. Any other suggestions? |

That is a minimum system requirement for the game. Some users have been able to play in 800 x 600 mode too in fullscreen mode, but many cannot. |

It doen't go higher than 800 X 600. I tried using full screen mode, and it doesn't work. Is there ANYTHING I can do. Even an graphics card upgrade? Do you suggest any ones at a lower cost?

Make sure you download and install your video cards latest drivers. I know you say you have followed the suggestions so far but often users just assume they have the latest drivers. Download, install them, and then reboot to see if the latest drivers allow other monitor resolutions.
Otherwise I'm not sure - it's at this stage where I hope that 800x600-res OOTP users might offer further tips. With no luck there the next things to consider are upgrading your video card (see below) or getting your eLicense refund (you have 2 weeks I think). About getting a new video card: I think in most cases the limit is the video card so upgrading your card could help, but in some cases I think there can also be a resolution limit with the monitor itself. That means make sure your monitor can handle higher resolutions before upgrading your video card. Getting a newer card does not have to be that pricey, but I am not a big hardware guy so I can't offer recomendations. |

Using the latest Nividia drivers, off of their site. I'm using a Geforce 3 ti200 card, so it's more that good enough to handle the graphics load. I was having problems with blurry fonts, but kept enabling and disabling the direct 3d setting and it finally kicked in. I'll probably end up switching to 1024 resolution, but I have to get my eyes adjusted to the smaller type size. I just keep getting an OOTP.exe runtime error after simming and then going into the menu to choose anything. I can sim away for however long, but the minute I choose anything in the menu, game quits. Can't I'm using Rolens rosters, could it be something in there? If I use the default fictional players, I don't have these problems. You should be able to get a Geforce 3 ti200 card for about $149 or less, depending on how hard you look. [ 04-19-2002, 10:22 AM: Message edited by: daz ] |
