Drifting off topic for a moment...

This is the same sort of commentary that the Mets beat writers are spreading-- you know, the same guys who proposed fire sales in April. I suspect this attitude is driven by the odd habit of fans of our rivals (e.g. the Yankees and the Phillies) to end up our beat writers.

I can't get worked up about one bad at bat (by a rookie pitcher who was snubbed from the All-Star team due to his lack of name recognition) that ultimately may have led to the Mets losing one of the 162 games this season. Or it may not have. Of course, if I'm going to base my perception about the entire season on one play, maybe I'll base it on Jason Bay going first to third in the bottom of the 9th, allowing him to come around and score next at-bat to tie the game they ultimately won in the 10th.

It's a week prior to the All Star break, the Mets are sitting at .500 after a bad start, all with their ace, their all-star third baseman, their up-and-coming first baseman and a rock solid bullpen arm on the disabled list. They are 6.5 games out on the wild card chase. At the current rate, the team is on track to win around 85 games. Should the team get healthy, I suspect they can make some noise. How is that not contending?

Right, now back to the patch. PM me if you want to continue this discussion.

Cras, if you've modified any files in your /database directory, zip them up or copy them or move them in order to protect them before you run any patch files because they likely will get overwritten.

According to OOTP itself, OOTP MLB play (modern and historical) outnumbers OOTP fictional play three to one.

Five thousand thanks for a non-modder? I never thought I'd see the day. Thank you for your support.

when looking at retired players in the league history, the scope keeps resetting from stats based in a particular league, to every stat the player has ever accumulated when going from the player link back to the list of retired people.

also, could you add the ability to sort the player/coach search page.

and when editing players, when you exit the player, the left side scroll bar does not reset to the top when you open the next player. it will still be where you left it.

So what does this have to do with OOTP and/or the patch?

This was admittedly off topic but perhaps you noticed the reference was to the Mets farm system sim that MikeStack and KYSteveH wrote about prior to mine, made me think back to Saturdays game. OR, OOTP is a baseball sim and I was relating a baseball story?

Andreas Raht already acknowledged the bugs discussed in this thread and promised a fix in 12.11.12 coming soon to a update near you...

MikeStack and I took it to PM and its history...wasn't any more than a baseball story

Unix

When I update the unix version of OOTP12, do I have to uninstall the license and then install the patch? Or can I just install the patch without removing the license first?

You can install the patch without removing the license.

I'm waiting too buddy as I'm sure many others are. Honestly I'm not sure how people who use finances are even playing with ver 12 in its current state.

It looks like the Rule 5 eligibility bug that was fixed in the first patch has crept its way back in-- Mets farmhands Wilmer Flores and Eric Beaulac are the easy examples for me to point to (since I know the Mets farm system well). Both are erroneously eligible-- both have three years of experience. Flores shouldn't be eligible for two more seasons (he signed 18 or under), Beaulac should be eligible the following year (she signed at 21).
are they being protected by the team?

now to my issue, i have foreigner % set to zero in my canadiana and dominican high school league. i have 111 out of 349 that are not canadian in my canada league. and 60 of 480 in the dominican league.... these numbers are a far cry from 0% foreigners. the foreign player limit selector needs to be added to feeder leagues.

and every year the pitching rotation size still resets to 5 from 6 for my lower leagues.

and is there any way to fix the wrong country/state bug once you've started your game? i had the state problem, which i fixed by re-importing my game into 12, but now surfing around my "world" i noticed that the game thinks the province's of vancouver and manatoba are cities in denmark. i dont know if there are any other problems like that, but i do know my states are correct. the problem is, at this point, reimporting is not an option.

Maybe, but who cares, they should be ineligible, they shouldn't require protection.

Add me to the list as someone who is also waiting. I only play with the current year MLB quickstart. Since I know they are updating prospects and minor leaguers so they develop better, that and finances will be key to my enjoyment for later years in my game.

Yes, this is rather unfortunate (and a bit ridiculous in that the "states" that are mis-selected are apparently from a "Lord of the Rings" section of the new World_Default.xml file). Two threads on the topic went dormant; the participants apparently haven given up. I bumped them both just now.

finances - I like the finances in OOTP 12. It makes the first 4 rounds of the draft especially interesting with the player demands.

I think it is awkward how you must do double switches in the lineups. I changed player positions and then replaced the pitcher just to have the pitcher take the place of the position player. Then the position player is not available because I had him pinch hit for the pitcher. Not really a bug - just awkward.
