Is the AI when it comes to contracts going to be improved?

Just finished a season where Votto nearly finished with a .400 average and the triple crown and he resigns for a 3 year deal worth $32 million?

Albert Pujols came off a .286 / 35 hr / 113 rbi season to sign a 3 year deal with the Mets for a $30 million contract ....

I try to offer my ace an extension and he wants a 5 year deal averaging $27m per season with the final year being worth $35m and a player option?

Speaking as a Mets fan, I'm good with this. ;-)

Have you upgraded recently? Supposedly, they've ironed out some issues in the latest patch (I haven't reach free agency in a game yet since upgrading...).

Good point .. just saw they released an updated patch .. installed but the changes won't be seen unless I start a new season.

I had a good previous season so I'll continue playing this one out but hope the changes are significant the next time I start.

Went further into the offseason and now my ace wants a 5 year deal worth an average of $32m with the final year being worth $44m .... I'd say the AI definitely needed this patch lol

Yeah the same thing has happened to me I put a lot of time into my league so I don't want to start over, but it kind of stinks that it has all these problems. It basically punished people that preordered and started playing.

With the latest patch installed the game doesn't make real noticeable improvements in the contract AI.

I simmed a whole season and Pujols ended up as the MVP with a .329/44/116 season he and signed an extension for 4 years at $72m. Still a little low but more reasonable than the last season I played.

Votto had a .272/20/71 season and was offered the same exact extension of 3 years $32m .. he batted .396/51/151 in the season before I patched.

My pitcher had a similar season (4 less wins, 2 more losses, sub 3.00 era and less strikeouts) and got the similar contract he was offered in the previous season of 5 years $122m.

Interesting one was Kelly Johnson who had a season of .303/9/37 in 63 games played with AZ getting signed for 6 years at $98M ..... by the A's !!!!

You know that's not realistic ... LOL

Reloaded the season I had going before the patch and a signing that really irked me was ...

Boston already has Gonzo for a 5 year $42m deal (which I understand is fixed in the new patch ) but in the offseason they also land Prince Fielder who had a .299/52/123 with a 1.030 OPS season for a 5 year $42.5m contract to BACK-UP Gonzo?

Prince could DH.. So, it's not a bad deal unless he is the backup

You're absolutely right ... he will be playing as DH.

My mistake.

They still got him for cheap 5 yrs 100 mill would have been more like it, but as a DH and the Soxs having a high budget.. It's not the worse deals

Prince turned down a 5 years, $100M contract extension by the Brewers IRL.

One, to say "punished" implies (to my mind, at least, so maybe I'm odd) intent. As if the devs were putting out the patch with the mindset of "Ha Ha! All those silly preordering customers are going to have to start over! *evil laugh*". That's just not how they are, so far as I can tell, and to characterize them as such is just not called for.

Two, please someone correct me if I'm wrong, but the only thing you have to restart for is roster set updates. Now, if those contracts bother the OP so much that he can't stand going forward with the league, that's one thing, but if future offseasons won't have the issue then it's a personal decision regarding what he wants in his league, not a requirement by the patch.
