Reserve Clause
Hey guys, I currently have OOTP 9 but am considering 12. The one problem I had with 9 was being forced to do contracts for 1901 through 1935 (as far as I got with the current league I'm working with) as if there were free agents, etc.
With 12 will it be possible to mirror the way financials were handled back in the day? Players not being able to become free agents etc. |

Yes. There is now an option in financials that simulates the Reserve Clause Era.

Wow, the reserve clause will really change the way this game works.

If you just want the pleasure of managing (GM & field) a major league team, try using the reserve roster rule along with the reserve clause. I set the limit at 15 to simulate a 40-man roster. I also turn off the draft and import the rookies to their historical debut teams.
I find this to be a streamlined way to play that focuses my attention on the major league roster. The season moves quickly even if I manage the games. There are free agents available because of the 40-man roster limit, so some player movement (at the fringe player level) happens along with normal trading. P.S. The reserve clause results in mostly one-year contracts that get automatically renewed (if you want to offer) at a small raise for good players. You can also offer multi-year deals to the big stars.
