Well, I typically have nine-to-twelve applications running at any given time and I very rarely have a crash, but I also have a 4th gen iPod Touch 32GB running 4.3.3

In any event, I wonder if it would be worth considering having older devices retain only 1-2 season's worth of data/stats. Provided that is the root cause of the slowness/crashing. If not, would an upgrade to the latest iOS version help?

@ Spharv2

What model are you currently using and what version of iOS do you have? Have you updated to the latest version?

Already doing the reboot, as I stated earlier, at this point, it does nothing to help the matter.

I rarely play out games, maybe once in a while if it's important, I'll watch, but generally, I play as a GM sim. Only specifics I can think of is what I placed in the previous post. 3-4 seasons into a league, late in the season (This one is during the end of season roster reduction), going into the roster and player cards and sending people down to the minors.

Not sure what gen this IPod is, my fiancee got it for me the Christmas before last, so whatever was out then. Running 4.2.1, and fully updated.

Seems to be a data issue. I'm into the 4th season with a 16 team league, and have had crashes, but nothing a reboot won't fix. I can even watch the games in the postseason, something I was rarely able to do in a full league. I can imagine that later once I have more stats built up, it may be back to the constant crashes and issues, but for now it's working, though I really don't like playing in a small league.

Would it be possible to add a setting to purge statistics past a certain point? I like having them all there, but if it makes the difference between being able to play a MLB style league for more than a couple of years and being forced to only play a small league, I'll sacrifice the stats.

@ Spharv2: we always want to improve the stability of iOOTP (on older devices). Would you like to join the beta team after the 1.1.0 update to help us find and fix possible bottlenecks?

Any correlation to the number of players in the league? A standard league starts with 1,600 players (rounded.) Then, with each draft, another 180 enter the league. My fictional league (30 teams) has 2,100+ in season 3.

Then again, a 16 team league has 950 (rounded) players. So, technically it should be fine.

I think you could be onto something with the accumulation of stats theory. Better start writing test case scenarios.

Sure, I play the game enough (Ask my fiancee ). I'd be happy to help you out if I can.

Cool. I will set you up after the 1.1.0 update is out to Apple. My plan is to search for possible memory bottlenecks and eliminate them for the iPad update. So we need a few old devices for testing.

It's gotta be an issue with the amount of players. I'm now in season 17 of my 16 team fictional league, and haven't had any issues. I can even play without rebooting most of the time. I get an occasional crash, but most of them are when it's been running for a long while. Would still like to be able to play a MLB style league though. 16 teams is a bit too few for my tastes.

How many players are in your league? (provided that it doesn't crash when you check)

If I'd have to guess I'd say, 950 to start plus 1,632 (96 per year (16 teams * 6 rounds) for 17 years.) So, 2,582 minus 10% attrition = 2,324 which is roughly the same amount of players in a MLB league that's in year 2 or 3.

Well, from the looks of it, I have about 3k players....Most have no stats though, since they're scrubs that never saw the majors, where in the MLB setup, they all have their stat history, so that's a whole lot of stats that are sitting there.
