Idea Request - 'What If...'
Anybody willing to do universes based on 'what if' (insert fighter) had better/worse (insert skill). For instance, 'What if Jermain Taylor had great stamina?' would be a fun one. Or, 'What if Paulie Malinaggi could punch?' is another intriguing version. I'm sure everybody has a few like that.

His will was far greater than his chin.

What if David Haye had no power?
What if Wladimir Klitschko had an iron chin? What if George Foreman never went bald? |

What if Cus lived longer and continued to work with Tyson? What if Leonard had not suffered the detached retina and retired early? What about an all time PFP tournament equalized for weight?

1.) What if Dempsey, Louis or Tyson had fought during the Ali era
2.) How would Frazier or Marciano do against today's fighters 3.) How would Ketchel, Valero or Sanchez Careers turned out, had they lived longer |

- What if Ray Robinson had a glass jaw?
Ooh, got a great one! Two, actually! - What if Rocky Marciano fought his career today at 175 pounds just long enough to get a title shot or lose, fought most of his career at Cruiserweight, and then moved up ala David Haye for an immediate shot at Wlad/Vitali after Cruiserweight is cleaned out? -^same with Joe Louis. -What if Floyd Mayweather was a 6'3" heavyweight? - What if Manny Pacquiao was a 6'1" heavyweight? Would LOVE to see those two. |

In order to add an element of the unexpected and unpredictable, long ago I created a universe in which certain fighters were picked at random to miss their prime career stages. I would track their aging by hand and until it was time for them to move from beginning or preprime directly to postprime or end stage, as though they had simply never attained their promise. This was in TB1, where the aging stages were less transparent, so it gave everything more of an air of mystery.
Well, as it happened, Ray Robinson drew the shortest straw of them all and remained in beginning phase until he went to end. I don't remember about the quality of his chin, but of course it must have been weaker than the real Robinson's. Against his division's better fighters, the arrested development Robinson tended to win a match, lose a match and fail to work up much career momentum. At one point he did together enough of a run to get a title shot, can't remember the opponent, but he lost pretty convincingly. He was not a great fighter by any means, but even failing utterly to fulfill his potential, he was still quite a good one. |
