Suggestions for Speeding Up Sim
Hey, I've been playing OOTP on and off again for years and generally find myself creating fictional universes. In a thread I saw today, someone had noted that they sim out many years of their fictional leagues before they take over for a team in order to weed out some of the inaugural players and let the new players develop. I was attempting to do this as well as sim some extra years to build a league recordbook before I take over for a team but my laptop isn't ultra powerful (I don't do any gaming on it besides OOTP actually so it wasn't a high priority when I picked out this computer recently)... so the simming is taking a bit long for each year.
After I sim 10 years, I'm going to delete out the league history then sim another 10+ years and take over for a team. Any suggestions for features to disable during those times that might help speed up the sim for me? Many thanks! |

Maybe sim that first 10 years without any minor leagues? No minor leagues means you sim less games every day.

Turn off the almanac if it isn't already, don't save boxscores/news/transactions/game logs/replays at least from the first 10 years you plan on deleting anyway, best bet is to set it up, run it, go to bed, wake up, check it, then probably set up the 2nd 10 years, run it, go to work, come home and enjoy!

Ah, yes, perfect. I didn't think of turning off Almanac! Good call.
Thanks to you both! |
