Scouts Ratings

Im new to OOTP and when i start a season it seems that the OSA ratings have major flaws but when my scout comes out with his ratings they are much different then the OSA rankings. For example: OSA- Josh hamilton contact 5 power 4, My scout: contact 10 power 8, and then OSA- Billy Butler contact 4 power 4, My scout: contact 8 poower 7. (ratings 1-10)

Why is it like this, what one is more accurate according to the sim of the games, should i consider both when looking at a player???

you could turn off scouts and check for yourself.

your scout is normally more accurate than OSA. But that doesn't mean the OSA is always inaccurate. Use both with more weight on the scout's opinion when looking at ratings.

This.

Think of OSA as Baseball America or Baseball Prospectus. They're not scouts; they just collect the best info they can from their sources. This info isn't as deep as your scout, whose full time job is to scout players.

I don't ignore OSA, but it carries less weight in my assessments.

I HATE SCOUTS IN OOTP!!!

Yes I am yelling. Rely on stats. Sim out 5 seasons and look at players stats if you want accuracy.

So, If I turn off scouts completely does the game use OSA for scouting? Am I therefore seeing the REAL player (with no obfuscation) or can they be slightly off when I'm looking at overall star ratings (again, with scouting turned off)?

With scouting off, all ratings are dead-on accurate.

No argument there. With scouting on, you need to consider stats too.

Ah his last sentence didn't sink in with me. Yes, I would consider that a cheat, myself. Check the current stats, yes. Sim out into the future, that's not for me. Might as well turn off scouting in that case.
