NABL (North American Baseball League) News:
The "Crafty Bastard" of Chicago, Connie Mack, pulls another big deal out of his bag of tricks, bringing 2B Brian Musick and his $15m salary over from Brooklyn for uber-prospect Ed Summers and change. St, Louis Browns' skipper Roger Connor went ballistic on Tom Burns, Brooklyn's field boss, when the latter was in St. Louis to prepare for the Cardinals. Connor screamed at Burns, citing it another example of how "the rich get richer" and chastising Burns for complaining about dynasties and yet still trading with "that evil little gnome". "He bitched and complained at the GM [General Manager's winter meeting] about how the Chicagos were too good and how Mack and Slapper [Cubs' skipper Leslie McMannis] always seemed to pray on weaker teams, and yet he trades with the enemy. It just eats my goat that he would do something like that". Mack laughed off Connor's criticisms, citing that "Roger is just over-reacting again. Musick is hardly a Hall of Famer. He is a good kid who hit the jackpot in Brooklyn when Oyster was drunk enough to sign that insane contract" and "a future cereal box cover does not hit .229 and drive in a run a month or so, now does it?" For the record, Musick is hitting .229 for the season so far, and in 8 seasons of play, owns a .289 BA on only 1078 hits and a mere 517 RBI over his career. The trade reduces the White Sox to one (1) player in the whole minor league system - a train-wreck just building up steam.
