Carlos Silva of the SWB Yankees (Yankees' AAA Team) still has the contract he had when he played for the Cubs. He's actually signed to a minor league deal now.
And some rosters seem to be inaccurate, Jordan Parraz never was on the Yankees' 25 man roster. Quick question: are these rosters Opening Day rosters? If the answer is yes then there's still some work to be done. edit: somethings wrong with team personnels as well. Everybody is signed to a contract worth $0 and most guys only have a contract for 2010. edit2: Eric Chavez' (Yankees) salary is waaaay to high, Nick Swisher's 2012 contract year is actually a team option and Rafael Soriano, CC Sabathia (both Yankees) have no opt out clauses. I wonder why nobody has seen that in the beta!? btw: if contract issues don't belong in this thread then just delete my post. After roughly looking through the contracts I'd guess that at least 50% of all contracts don't look like their real-life counterparts.

I'm a little concerned about all of the roster issues I'm hearing. It sounds like there is a lot of work to be done with rosters and contracts.
I will do a detailed look at the St. Louis Cardinals and hopefully the entire NL Central tonight and go from there. I'll focus on the 40-man rosters and top 20 prospects and go from there. |

Contract issues: Baltimore Orioles
Nick Markakis: the final year of his contract (2015) is a team option with a $2M buyout.
Derrek Lee: He has multiple plate appearance bonuses, more than can be handled by the game, but the most basic is a $500k bonus for 400 plate appearances. Mark Reynolds: the final year of his contract (2013) is a team option with a $500k buyout. Kevin Gregg: his salary in 2011 is $4.2M, his salary in 2012 is $5.8M, and he has a team option for 2013 at $6M. |

Have fun with the NL central contracts there are too many to name. The game had Reds paying Dontrelle Willis more than 30 million over the next 3 years, and the game has him in rookie ball with .5 star potential. In real life he is signed to a 1 year minor league contract. There many other contract problems but this was the worst that I had seen. |

Casey Janssen, located at Single-A Dunedin in this roster set, is quite terrible. I believe he had a 2-4-1 set of ratings and a minor league contract. If you check it for him to have a Major League contract, the correct salary shows up, so there is no problem there. However, he is not even remotely serviceable at the ML level as is. Here is what I have done:
According to fangraphs.com, he is throwing his fastball at an average of 92.0 MPH this year. He was actually higher at this point last year, but lost velocity as the season went on and finished out at 91.5. I set his velocity to 90-92 MPH, but kept his groundball rate the same. For stuff, movement and control ratings, I simply plugged in his stats from the 2007, 2010 and 2011 seasons and was happy with what was produced. Why these seasons? He missed all of 2008, so that was out. Then in 2006 and 2009, his stats were a bit skewed due to starting some games. Yes, the 3 seasons I picked were his best as a reliever, but they are also his only 3 seasons where he was used exclusively as a reliever. This produced ratings of 6-8-7 (107-199-124). This is much more realistic for him, and he can now be used at the ML level. There are also a few other errors regarding the Jays' roster, but this was the most glaring.

Contract issues: Arizona Diamondbacks
CF Chris B. Young: the final year of his contract (2014) is team option with a $1.5M buyout.
SS Stephen Drew: the final year of his contract (2013) is a $10M mutual option (which the game no longer seems to support) with a $1.35M buyout. CL JJ Putz: the final year of his contract (2013) is a $6.5M team option with a $1.5M buyout. SP Zach Duke: the final year of his contract (2012) is a $5.5M team option with a $750k buyout. UT Melvin Mora: his one year deal is for $2.35M, not $2M. C Henry Blanco: his contract is for one year with a mutual option. His salary in year 1 is $1M, his option year is for $1.15M with a $250k buyout. CF Willie Bloomquist: the final year of his contract (2012) is a mutual option year with a $150k buyout. |

Based on a discussion in another thread....Brennan Boesch does seem a bit underrated.
He is hitting .290 this year and hit .250 last year with 14 home runs. He already has 10 homers this year. But his projected stats in the game are more like .220-.230 with 15 homers. Probably needs a bit of a power boost and contact, maybe gap also.

Mets roster issues
It seems like every contract involving option years is wrong but here are the ones on the Mets:
CL Francisco Rodriguez - 2012 season is $17.5M vesting option (vests with 55 games finished in 2011) with a $3.5M buyout. I don't know if it is possible to have an option based on games finished in OOTP but it certainly shouldn't be a guaranteed year. SP RA Dickey - 2013 season is $5M club option with $0.3M buyout C Ronny Paulino - His current ratings would lead to a .145/.178/.236 line in the majors which is way, way off. IRL he's currently on the big league team hitting .317/.371/.390 and has a career line of .276/.330/.383 in 1809 PA. He's been a productive if unspectacular catcher for several years but he's rated as a minor league scrub. Also I believe Paulino still had to serve a drug suspension at the beginning of the year (he had like 7 games left of a 50 game suspension I think). 1B Ike Davis - I think he is being underrated. He currently projects to have a strike out rate of nearly 30% which is well above what he did last year (26.4%) or so far this season (24.0%). His walk rate is also kind of low in that he is projected to draw 54 walks in 601 PA when he drew 72 in almost the same amount of playing time last year and was on pace to have almost as many walks this season. This is leading to a projected BA and OBP that I believe is much lower than it should be. SP Johan Santana - he is listed as having a "fractured ulna (arm)" which I don't think is correct. He has some type of shoulder injury and the injury time is quite a bit longer than the 6-7 weeks that is listed. It's probably closer to 3-4 months and he might not even pitch at all this season. Both of the players the Mets selected in the Rule V draft this offseason (MR Pedro Beato and 2B Brad Emaus) are currently on a Mets AAA affiliate. This is obviously impossible and both players made the team's opening day roster anyway. The Washington Nationals are also paying $12M to Oliver Perez when he is actually signed to a minor league deal. I don't have time for any more but 2B Ben Zobrist, 3B Evan Longoria and SP James Shields of the Tampa Bay Rays all have multiple club options on their contracts that are incorrectly listed as guaranteed years. |

Brandon Webb is still ranked as a top-12 pitcher (??!?) in this league. It's an obvious oversight, as his career as a major league player is almost certainly over.
By his own account, he doesn't know whats wrong with him either: "I feel like I let them go and it sounds hard and I'm like, 'That's pretty good,'" Webb said. "And I look up and it's 84. I don't know when it's going to come back or if it will. Hopefully it does. "But if it is [84] than I’ve got have a decent changeup, curveball and have to be able to locate it down in the zone, which I wasn’t able to do today. That will have to be the equalizer.” His AA stats so far: 11.57 ERA, 4K's to 4BB's. Stats dont mean much, but at age 32, that velocity is never coming back. I suggest editing him back to 45 stuff, 60 movement and 50 control, that way he is a useful #5 starter, which is the most he'll ever be in the majors again. His sinker, currently rated 65, would have to be edited back to 45, because it comes in as slow as most knuckleballs, and that wont get major league hitters out. |

This is probably a minor thing in the grand scheme of things but Tom Hicks is no longer the owner for Texas. (Thank God) Nolan Ryan is the current head of the group that owns them.

As far as batters/pitchers ratings go. What if we started by making a list of the top 50-100 players in fantasy baseball and make adjustments based on projects and current production. Then look up the pre-season top 50-100 fantasy players and adjust the slackers.
Anyone interested in this? |

It's easy, but it's flawed reasoning. You're imposing injuries which occurred during the season, then playing the season and getting more injuries.
