Playoff Rosters

Sorry if this has been posted and I missed it... did playoff rosters make it into OOTP 12?

Define playoff roster.

I ask because I think that not all RL possibilities are available.

What's supposed to be different from last year's playoff rosters?

Unless I'm missing something, there is no playoff roster, just the continuation of the Active Roster. Thus, you have to burn options to move people off your active roster at the end of the regular season.

So to drop a 5th starter (common in the post-season, see Barry Zito last year) to free up an extra spot for a bat or reliever, I would burn an option year for that pitcher.

That's how it currently works, but Markus said there would be a new playoff roster system in OOTP 12.

This was in the last newsletter, "Added a playoff roster for more realistic team transactions."

Does any of you guys have any other details for the playoff roster except for the "Added a playoff roster for more realistic team transactions." line from the newsletter?

I don't check the board everyday so I might have missed something...

Thanks!

According to OOTP itself, OOTP MLB play (modern and historical) outnumbers OOTP fictional play three to one.

Five thousand thanks for a non-modder? I never thought I'd see the day. Thank you for your support.

And this, let me tell you, is a problem if you try to run the Giants in OOTP

Among other things, they can refuse the assignment and/or have to clear waivers to be off the p-o roster as implemented in the game.

Yep. I forgot about the assignment refusal. Another dagger.

Yes, (optional) playoff rosters are part of OOTP 12. We tried to mirror MLB rules as closely as possible.

Players on the DL or active roster on the day before roster expansion (i.e. 8/31) are eligible for your playoff roster. If a player gets put on the 60-day DL after that date, or on the 15-day DL during the playoffs, you may replace him with a player from within your organization prior to a playoff round, but only if that player was part of your organization on 8/31.

The playoff roster is a new section in the team transaction screen, you can move players via drag & drop as usual.

Things work pretty well

Wink

Now if only we could get something like that for non-roster invites in Spring Training.

The only thing I dislike about having accurate rules for playoffs is I have exploited waiver trades in sep and did this often in HH (as did AI on HH) and have a good hitter for the playoffs. Now I have to manage my team better from 8/31 on.
