eMLB 2.0 seeks new GMs for 2000 season!

Decade Old League Completes Successful Second Season in Re-boot
Seeks New GMs

Electronic Major League Baseball, a league originally formed in 2000 and now re-booted as eMLB 2.0, had a wonderful second season in its rebirth, and found the Toronto Blue Jays and longtime eMLBer Chris Holland winning the World Series! In eMLB's Lifetime, this is Chris' 7th World Title

Now, heading into Free Agency, and we need four GMs. The following teams are available to be acquired:

Arizona Diamondbacks (75-87 in 1999): The Diamondbacks were 4 games worse than their previous season. They were mostly let down by their pitching staff, who finished last in the NL in Hits Allowed, OAvg, and BABIP. Their Starters ERA was also one of the worst in the league. In fact, the only thing the team did right was 4th in the NL in HRs.

Relying on old veterans like Darryl Strawberry (.270, 28 HR, 92 RBI), and young stars to be like Tony Batista (.253, 31 HR, 106 RBI), and one solid pitcher in 27 yr old Omar Daal (15-12, 3.23 ERA), there is potential here, but perhaps requiring a couple seasons.

Prospects/Draft Results: The team has some decent depth in the minors, starting with prospects like Garrett Atkins, Aubrey Huff, Pat Burrell and Shane Victorino. If these players pan out like the D'Backs hope, the team will have a potent offense for years. On the Pitching side, there are top prospects like Ryan Drese and Paxton Crawford, but both are far from ready, posting 5+ ERAs in A or AA this season. It'll perhaps be a couple seasons before any top pitching prospect can help the Diamondbacks out.

-----

Chicago Cubs (78-84 in 1999): The Cubs are a team built around offense and homers. The past two seasons, Sammy Sosa has belted 99 HRs, 49 this past season. His average improved to .298. 23 yr old Carlos Lee also showed phenomenal hitting skills, going .332 with 23 HR and 91 RBI.

Where the future of this team lies is on the back of 22 yr old Kerry Wood. In two season, Wood is 24-15, with a 3.32 ERA and 441 K in 341 IP! Opponents have hit a career .209 against him...if they can build around him, there's strong potential. They did have Mark Clark (15-9, 4.19 ERA), but he is now a Free Agent.

Prospects/Draft Results: Speedster Juan Pierre is near ready to play at the Bigs, and he appears to be an overall upgrade from the aging Brian McRae. There are four solid pitching prospects in the system (Kyle Lohse, Odalis Perez, Carlos Silva, and Jason Marquis), but only Perez seems ready to play at the Big League level, we're just not sure how solid they'll be.

--------------

Montreal Expos (100-62, Lost in NLDS): The Expos had a very successful season last year with a very active GM. Perhaps the biggest success was the risk of originally protecting Brad Fullmer, who hit .333 with 27 HR and 134 RBI. For a team who traded away Rondell White, Vladimir Guerrero, and appeared to be a .500 team going forward, they clicked this year, but had a heartbreaking end to their season after going up 2-0 in the NLDS to lose to eventual NL Champion Colorado in 5.

This team knows how to put bat on ball, get on base, and score by extra base hits that aren't homers. But their real strength was their pitching. Best bullpen in the NL, lead by Carl Pavano (16-5, 3.14 ERA) and Dustin Hermanson (15-10, 3.45).

Prospects: One power hitter prospect in Rob Stratton that is being watched closely. One speedster with a glove in Rafael Furcal. And a couple pitching prospects, Chris Capuano and Jose Acevedo, who seems ready to make the jump.

-----------

New York Yankees (98-64, lost in ALDS): Open due to the GM wanting his hometown team, the Yankees have a mix of everything. Decent offense, solid pitching...they really came to form this year. Led by Matt Stairs on offense (.302, 39 HR, 132 RBI), and John Burkett on the hill (20-8, 3.08 ERA), the Yankees seem poised for another run at the postseason. The challenge will be if they can defeat the Blue Jays for the AL East crown.

The biggest challenge for the Yankees will be deciding which two players they'll try to offer contract extensions to next season.

Prospects: Perhaps a future All-Star in the making is their top prospect, OF Josh Hamilton, who tore up AA this year. Backstop prospect Michael Barrett may be ready next season. Mark Hendrickson and Juan Figueroa will try to break into the Opening Day lineup next season.

--------

How to apply: Contact me at commissioner at emlb-baseball dot com. As there are four teams, please include all four in your application, but indicate your desired team in order of preference. Also include a brief history of leagues you were in prior.

Special Note: As always, with ten years of RL history, former eMLB GMs still in good standing will often be given first opportunity to get back in the league.

We want to fill the league up and move on to the prosperous offseason and 2000 First Year Player Draft! Sign up immediately or miss the boat!

Thanks!
