Gotta do something about these trades
Sorry if this has been posted before, I dont have time to go reading through the entire forum, but the amount of just awful trade offers I receive is becoming too much. I dont want to turn trading off because that's just unrealistic, but its 3 days before the trade deadline and I just received 15 trade offers in 1 day. Of these 15 offers 4 are from Boston, 2 are from Baltimore, 2 are from Milwaukee, and 2 are from Texas. Moving past the fact that 10 of the 15 offers are from the same teams, let's look at what I'm being offered (and when I say bum I mean anyone who is under a 30/30)
a 27 year old bum and a 20 year old bum for a 30 year old bum and an 18 year old prospect... no good the same 27 year old bum for a useful utility infielder and an 18 year old star prospect... bad trade One more time with the 27 year old bum and a 20 year old prospect with no potential for my starting RF (a 58/67)... nope a 29 year old bum for a 30 year old bum and a 22 year old kid with no potential... kinda a pointless offer Boston sure is persistent cuz for the 4th time they have offered me the 27 year old bum along with a 21 year old prospect with no potential for a starting pitcher at 72/72 and an 18 year old prospect.... nope a 31 year old bum for a 33 year old useful bench player... bad deal a 26 year old average big league player (a 46/58) for a 19 year old average prospect and an 18 year old star prospect... if I was desperate for the position I was being offered I'd consider it, but I'm not. Let's call this a decent offer, but still rejected. The same 26 year old for a utility infielder and a prospect, again, if I needed the position then I'd think about it but I dont, so rejected. A 31 year old bum for a backup infielder and a 19 year old prosepct... nope A 27 year old bum for a 30 year old bum and a good prospect... nope a 29 year old bum for my starting 2B who is a 65/70... rejected I'll save you all from reading the rest of these trades, but can something PLEASE be done about this. I just received 13 more offers 3 days before the deadline, 13 more offers 2 days before the deadline, and 8 more offers the day before the deadline... that's pretty close to 50 simply dreadful and repetitious trade offers in a matter of days. |

I have never gotten that many trades. the most I got was 8 and that was the trade deadline so I understood why. But I do agree we need to get better trades but that should be fixed when the trading block comes in. Then we can find players that others want to get rid of and hopefully get some decent offers for your guys.

Yea... I've never gotten this many either. It seems to depend on how much free money you have under the budget. When I am totallllyyyy maxed out I'll get maybe 2 or 3 a year, but I just took over the worst team in the league after building a powerhouse with another franchise, totally stripped the roster and had a lot of free money.

I noticed the same thing, in my first year I got a lot of dumb trade requests. Could have partially been because my team was horrible though, and the other teams figured I would want to dump salary. But yes I did notice a lot of trade requests in my first season.

I hear you. I get fifteen or more "junk" trade offers every month in iOOTP. I thought it was just me.

I seem to get at least 5 trade proposals per week.

In my 2004 and 2011 replays with Oakland, I got only a few offers throughout the season. Some more before the deadline, but not too much. Seems to depend on your team. But for me it loooks like cpu is often interested in particular players, so cpu is trying to send a lot offers to see, if one convinces you. But the amount of offers in the first post is way too much.
If you look in league news there are many trades from day one on. And I think most of them are ok for both teams. So too many offers to human GM's are really bad, when cpu offers you the good guys for nonsense. And I didn't receive such an offer.... :-( |

For whatever reason, the AI gets obsessed over a certain player and will send a dozen trade offers. This wouldn't be a bad thing if they were legitimate offers, but it's always a lowball. |

Prospects and Cash
It seems that if you have room under your budget and a "Hot" prospect you get more offers. I have been buried under offers for an 18yr old Pitcher who projects to be a star. Some AI GMs are just more persistent. Consider it a compliment to your skills in aquiring top talent.

Not to hijack the thread or the OP's concerns about the game AI, which should be looked at by the developers, but I'm sure there are quite a few dumb trade offers made in real life. And if you want some real laughs, check out some of the trades proposed in various blogs, Bleacher Report, or by MLB TR commenters. It's better than watching standup comedy.

You can counter offer. Sometimes if they want to unload someone bad enough you can get cheap.

That's sort of along the lines of what I was thinking. Isn't the beginning offer in any type of bargaining session IRL always a lowball? You never know if the other side might go for it for some reason. Then you both start making more and more "reasonable" offers from there. Isn't that what bargaining is all about? |

You get offers?
I'm finishing my third season and haver never gotten an offer. I trade frequently on my own initiative and have several primo, alluring minor leaguers. Did I somehow set some option to off?

However, you should at least get something in the off-season unless you always have a great team, no cap room (over budget) or maybe injuries turned off. Sounds strange to me. Last edited by Supernovae; 08-27-2011 at 03:20 PM. |

Trading is on
The trading option is on. I have had team weaknesses over those years, but not many.
