You can't, he would have to manually turn it off/on at those times.

AZ Diamondbacks.. traded away the strikeout leaders at the plate, have Carlos Pena who seems to miss a lot of time for being a wife beater. I must confess I like to play the minor league games.. had to incorporate our new AAA team here, the Tucson Padres.. glad to have some minor league ball back in my town after the Tucson Sidewinders (Diamondbacks) left to Reno for some reason, oh wait, yeah that was because our city council is full of morons.. we lost spring training too.. I am a Padres fan now because they have faith in us.

Aba

I've messed around with several setups, but I'm moving into 2012 with the following:

I held an expansion draft and realigned after 2010. I'll start over again when OOTP12 comes out, as there are some settings I'd like to play with, readjusting market size, changing owners, and so on. I won the WS as the Seals in 2010 over the Yankees, and won the PCL pennant by a game over Denver and lost to the Milwaukee Braves in 2011. The Braves beat the KC A's in the WS. Tampa has run away with the SA for two years but lost to the AL champion each time.

Like a poster above, I added a couple of rookie leagues and A/SS teams so all the MLB teams have the same number of affiliates. I also break the GCL and AZL into historic/fantasy leagues. I'd like to make a template and quickstart for 12 with all this.

In the 2011 season I added the Transcanada Baseball League as an independent, with 3 levels of affiliated Canadian minor teams:

After a bad experience with salaries and finances too high (used Japanese league settings), I went too far in the other direction and not enough players are jumping to the TBL. Hoping to fix that up by the time OOTP 12 comes around.

I'm still going with my World Baseball League - 16 teams divided into Northern and Southern Hemispheres, scattered around the world in an alternate universe where baseball is the dominant world sport. Heavily edited nations file so most countries are capable of producing at least an occasional star. I've been playing since 2010, now I'm playing through the 2118 season. The Mumbai Marauders are currently on a tear and have been wrecking the league the last 4-5 years (think they won 118 games a couple seasons ago.)

I play in commissioner mode and never run a team - I love just tracking the best players and teams.

I use a league pretty close to modern MLB but fix the things that drive me nuts today.

I moved the Astros to the AL West to make 5 teams in each division. (I know this is blasphemy to some but I really do think MLB should expand by 2 more teams and go to a 4 division set up and playoffs like the NFL's. I just havn't taking it that far YET)

I make interleague play rotate like the NFL. The AL East plays the NL East one year. The NL Central the next and the NL West after that.

I made it so teams in the same division can play each other in round 1. Teams play by seed. Only stipulation is the wildcard always has to be on the road.

I also made the first round a best of 7 instead of 5.

I use a 100million dollar salary cap along side with revenue sharing.

Fictional players, Fictional teams
static 1996 financial and game settings
48 teams, 2 divisions with 24 teams
logo's, uni's, etc from Atletics17
16 team playoff, all 7 game series
Shared ticket revenue, shared media revenue, 66% income sharing
No DH, No Inter league, No FA Comp

I like to sim 80 seasons, then take over a bad team. Pretty good challenge, getting through 4 rounds of playoffs is tough.

Very hopeful that 12 will add some challenge and randomness to the financials.

I just added a new Indy League to my EBL vs MLB league the Coruscant League which features 16 teams from Coruscant....they have more money and bigger markets then both my Endor league and 2005's MLB...so far they have signed Pujols & CC Sabathia to $20 mil per yr deals..my Endor City Capitals have won the 1st 2 EBL World Series...my league is fictional historical since i left off at 2038 when I was on High Heat, but I am adding differences to my dream league and restarting it on OOTP. So far this is way I love this game, I finally was able to create my league in full, and replay it out. I still have 3 more Indy Leagues I will add over the next 12 yrs....The Tatooine League which eventually folds and their all stars forma team in the EBL called To Kieren Bounty Hunters owned by Boba Fett and Extensive Enterprises (Xamot & Tomax)...then I have my World League which will be 20-30 countries on Earth and then my Universal League with 56 planets.

I'm running a fictional team/player league with 18 teams. Modern stats based, with DH.

Started with 16 teams, then in Year 3 we had an expansion draft for 2 new teams. I took control of the expansion "Tampa Pirates."

The league is old school hardcore in terms of determining champions. There are 2 leagues, no divisions. One league has 10 teams, the other 8, and there are no inter-league games. These guys only see each other at the All-Star game and the World Championship.

I like that you have to finish 1st out of 10 or 8 teams to play for the championship. I plan to eventually have divisions, but not until I can put at least 7 teams in each division. No wildcards, never.

The Tampa Pirates stunk for the first 2 seasons, but our farm system is starting to deliver quality players and we are shooting for a >500 record this season.

This is one of my favorite league creations. I'm definitely getting immersed in the action.

I currently have two active leagues going right now, one MLB and one fictional.

I always start an MLB league when a new version of OOTP comes out and play as the Mariners. I do this because I like to see what a GM with some balls could turn the M's into with a few years to work. Remember 2009? The M's were 61-101 (ish?) IRL. In my league I finished 2009 with a .500 record. 2010, 2011, and 2012 each finished within 1-1/2 games of making the playoffs. Ichiro retired in 2012 with a career .362 average, unfortunately not making it to HOF. Now at the start of 2013, my starting pitching staff is Felix Hernandez, Josh Beckett, Roy Halladay, Steve Cartier (currently in KC's minors IRL), and Madison Bumgarner. See what happens when you spend some time doing creative trades? I have the trading set to normal difficulty.

The other league is a fictional Washington State Only league with Majors, 3A, 2A fall league, and Rookie levels - each level has 24 teams. The 2A fall league was started in the third year of the league to give depth to the minor league system and to give me something fun to pay attention to while I wait out the offseason activities in the fall. My team is the Olympia Capitals and after 20 years as GM I've helped them to 7 WSBL championships.

I'm currently in the midst of setting up another league that will consist of 32 ML teams. The two subleagues will be the Cascadia League and the Rockies League. It will have 3A, 2A, and a fall Rookie league. The leagues will all be limited to the western half of the US excluding southern Cal. I might use southern Cal as expansion space or an independent league at some point in the future.

Also, after reading ChicagoFan's stuff about his star wars themed leagues, i might try and set up a star trek themed league.

Anyone know how to get facegen to make Klingon faces?

I'm currently playing a Finnish league. I'm also working on a new league format - National Pro Fastpitch (NPF). Yes, it's a women's pro softball league. My league is similar to the real NPF and has only 4 teams. I make all my own pictures using the free version of Facegen Modeller. It's a big initial effort so I don't see any league expansion in the near future. Each team has 16 players and I only use 3 starting pitchers. I have also greatly reduced the financial coefficient down. Working with women baseball players is a bit different. They want their "weight" hidden and "age" changed to "seasons played".

Right now I've got a couple of "trial" leagues going as I get to know OOTP. The first league is fictional teams with real ML players and I ran it for about 3 seasons. Then I tried something I thought I would have no interest in, fictional teams with fictional players. After 3 seasons Jude Farley and Simon Caldwell are almost as real to me as Chipper Jones and Brian McCann!

The league currently has ML and AAA levels. ML level has 2 sub-leagues, 2 divisions each, 6 teams per division. The ML teams are local high schools (instant rivalries!). 2 of the schools are my alma mater and the HS my daughter will go to next year. It's been fun researching uniforms and ball parks. The AAA teams are middle schools that actually feed the respective high schools.

I just started a new 2010 ML game taking over the Indians, who with last years roster were pretty hapless. I started with an eye on building through the farm system and contending in 2012 or 2013. Finished the first season in last at 69-93. But much to my suprise, fiction is imitating reality. That is to say, my 2011 Indians team are surprise contenders, sitting at 49-34, 1.5 GB of Detroit for 1st and leading Oakland by 2 games for the Wild Card. Nick Weglarz has come out of nowhere to blaze a great season, hitting .286 with 11 homers and 47 RBI in early July. In fact, he's carrying my offense. In late June, I sat dead last in offense with 3.9 runs per game (my 1st ranked pitching staff is what was carrying us). My big boppers, Carlos Santana and Shin Soo Choo were struggling mightily (again, eerie resemblance to real life). I had to move them down in the lineup and put Weglarz at cleanup. Since I did that, we climbed to 10th in offense at 4.3 runs per game. I'm trying to make some moves to solidify a run at the pennant, but I am handcuffed by budget. I have no room to make a move. Travis Hafner and Kerry Wood are really dragging me down with their contracts. I am trying desperately to get rid of them, but no takers. I can live with Wood because he is having a good season, 23 saves in 25 chances with a 3.23 ERA, but Hafner is having a miserable year, batting well below the Mendoza line. And Hafner is still signed through 2013.
