Comments on playing out the games

I played a few games out and have a couple of comments...

* After pinch-hitting for a pitcher and the inning is over, I have to change pitchers. However, I am unable to view the other team's lineup to see who is coming to bat.

* In the game, there's no way to view lefty/righty batting splits and ratings of the opposing team's players. I just get the player card.

If anybody has figured out how to get the information, I am very interested in learning about it.

If you click on the field icon then click on the opposing teams roster, it shows you who is up next to bat.

I think the point is that if you pinch hit for the pitcher, before the next inning starts, there is no way to see the upcoming lineup without setting someone as a pitcher and then going back to the field icon. This means you either set the pinch hitter as the pitcher, go out, check the opposing team's lineup, and then replace the pitcher (which works, but ends up showing the pinch hitter as a pitcher in the box score), or you have to guess about the batters coming up next.

I also think this is needed.

Yeah, I've experienced this as well. The good news is that you can get around this. Took me a while to figure it out.

Set the pinch hitter as the pitcher on the substitution screen by tapping the " - " button next to his name in the column where everyone else has a position listed for them, then choose pitcher. Then tap "Return to Game" and you can then view your opponent's roster as normal and then go back to your roster and make the desired substitution.

The best permenant solution I can think of offhand is to maybe add an "Opponent's Roster" button to the bottom left of that screen to swap over, then have that button say "Your Roster" or whatever when viewing your opponent's roster so you can swap back and make your change.

That is how I do it as well. It is a minor inconvenience and I would not be upset if they did not make an update for this particular concern.

Yeah. I'd put it on the "things to do if it only takes 15 minutes or so" list. The inability to see rating splits during a game (except for the current batter) bums me out a lot more.

I think moving OOTP from a 13" or bigger screen to under 4" is certainly a challenge that is much greater than it initially looks, especially from the outside looking in. I've done some UI stuff at work but never on a screen so small, so I can somewhat but not fully appreciate all the effort that has to go into making the game full-featured yet still useable and uncluttered.

Thanks for figuring that out...it will be very helpful!
