I wasn't butthurt at all. If that's how you read it then you don't know me.

Nothing on boards bother me. They are a form of entertainment to me as are people who seem to have some personal issues that cause them to get annoyed by some petty thing I say. I like to have fun with people like that. If people think I'm bad on here they ought to see me IRL.

I don't take anything said in forums seriously.

I haven't been around for awhile so I'm not sure what the overall tone of the fan base is regarding iootp. For me though, this is the first version of ootp I am not buying since version 2. I just wasn't happy to see them stretching their already limited resources into an iootp version of the game. I just read the latest update and it already seems its having a impact on ootp.

I preordered so they got me this time. iootp does nothing for me so I'm waiting, and waiting. Don't see how it will be ready in May, with enough differences from 11 AND not buggy if they're just starting beta.

I expect the vary late (but still) spring release in June.

No preorder for me next year.

most likly, but i didnt preorder and will buy 12 at some point

13 as soon as i get a chance to preorder i will, and that 1 i dont expect til June if not October of 2012 just for the simple fact it will be completely different from any version of OOTP. But hopefully if it doesnt come out til October, i'll have more then 3 months to play it.

I guess I'll never understand the angst generated about the released date. Every year I look forward to the new version as the game I will use for the next 12 months - not the one I need in April. If it's later than usual, and I want to play the current season, I take the time to make the major trades or create the most critical new players to get something close to RL rosters and fuss with that for a couple months. I admit I usually play historical or fictional leagues so the RL rosters aren't as important to me - but if they were, I would be pushing the team for a release of the new rosters as part of the preorder for the new version - then it wouldn't matter as much when the game came out - I could play the current season on v11 and xfer it to v12 when it was released.

As some of you know, I'm not simply a laid back guy who accepts everything that comes my way (history in point), but I do try and look at situations as to their REAL meaning to me before I get all wound up about something that is out of my control. OOTP is the game I've spent more time with than any other game I ever bought (Mafia 1 and 2 could have been on top but the stories were too short lol). As such I'll wait till June to get it and not get too excited. Besides, I did buy iOOTP and am loving it - and it fills in my time as I wait for v12

Why bother buying the new version when u have updated rosters?
there r people that still play 6 because of Cubbyfans updated rosters, there are people that still play High Heat 1999 because of Pudge's updated rosters (granted HH/3DO is OOB)

Yes iOOTP11 has messed with release and development of OOTP12.

It is a shame that loyal longtime consumer of the OOTP products are being put off (even though we pre-paid 4 months before the expected release date "late March - Early April).

Then it became Late April ---- then May ---- and now maybe June ?

If we get OOTP 12 in June then we will be asked to pre-order OOTP 13 in December (5 months) .

The product and support for the product is normally GREAT ---- but the developers ability to reach release deadlines is poor .... and then we always have a series of updates.

Even the people with OOTP 11 want more updates. That is last year's product focus on OOTP 12.

Has iOOTP delayed things? Maybe. It is not like it is unheard of for OOTP to be released in May or even June previously, so I don't know that the finger can be pointed exclusively at this new product as the fault of the delay. I personally am not involved in the back end of things in any manner, like most people, so I honestly do not know. I don't even want to know. I check back every week to see if there are updates, and when there are not, I move on with my life.

I am looking forward to OOTP 12, but I have many things to occupy my time until it is released. I value my time, and would rather wait longer to play a polished product rather than waste my time playing something earlier.

Where did u see late March - early April? I saw Spring.

How? By pre-ordering the game now for just $29.99 before OOTP 12 ships this spring. After that, the full price will be $39.99.

and according to Markus he is shooting for a release date of 13 for mid March (dont quote me it was in another thread I read today)

You are here since eight years and you haven't understand yet that the game is usually release in may/june (wich is spring the date who is always written on the pre-order form)...

I can give a break to a newbie but for someone who was there four years before me this is just incredible to complain about what is usual...

Release dates for prior versions of OOTP, courtesy of Gambo by way of a post by Chicagofan76:

OOTP 2006 = 5/30/06
OOTP 2007 = 3/22/07
OOTP 9 = 6/18/08
OOTP 10 = 6/4/09
OOTP 11 = 4/12/10

So, of the last five versions, only two were released on or about opening day. Two others came out in June, and the remainder at the end of May.

Markus is better at meeting a deadline when someone else (VIVA, OOTP11; SI, 2007) imposes it upon him.

That was actually courtesy of me. The average release date is May 11th when numerically formatting these dates. Additionally, the OOTP11 should be thrown out of the equation as this was a special release date due to there being a boxed version released last year.

When it is up to Markus releasing the game the average is May 18th. We will likely see the game released earlier than the latest one of these dates.

You may have missed my point "as part of the preorder", I meant you pay your $30 on January, get the rosters for v11 in April, and v12 with the same rosters when the game is released. You have to commit to a purchase of the game to get the v11 rosters in April AND the game at release. I think that would greatly reduce the angst waiting for the game.

No problem . I just want people to know the source of the statements if they wanted more information. So much gets turned around and quoted on the boards that directing to the correct source is always good.

I look a look at a few other Management Sims such as "Championship Manager". They're release date has ranged from March - November sometimes 2-3 years apart for a new version. I was interested in Soccer (Football) specifically because the "season" is much more vague depending on whether you're talking Club play, international, playoffs etc and wanted to see how baseball correlates. What I found is the most popular sim for the most popular sport in the world originally normally released their game in September (going so far as November each year -- at the end of the "season"). When the game reached a critical sales point and started being released for American consumption and on multiple systems the release date started going to March (the beginning of the season). Now, it has returned to it's later in the year date.

So essentially what I see, initially, is that Opening Day release for a sports game is influenced by distributors and not developers.

The other sports sim I play is Second and Ten Football which was released anywhere from March to July it appears but the developer there is often throwing new features in at any given time and usually releases a new roster and some updates at the end of the year.

There is really no set date to release a sports game. We have been trained by large game distributors to expect a sports game by opening day (well actually the start of the preseason in most cases) and of course we all want to play the game and want something sooner.

ok...lets try this 1 on...I am in a debating mood today (see Homeless Mcdonalds and Jeff Bagwell)

I pay $30 preorder for 12, i get my updated rosters same day, then i call my credit card company or OOTPD and despute the charges, raise a huge fuss and get the $30 taken off and a i got free updated rosters for 11 without having to buy another version of OOTP ever again... I do this on several CC's over the next 110 yrs and I am still on OOTP11 when OOTP 22 comes out.
and I tell all my OOTP buddies (if i have anyone) to do the same. we bankrupt Markus and OOTPD in 3 yrs and then no one ever gets a version of OOTP past version 14.
yes this scenario is extremely far fetched but i know probably 50 ppl (not on here per se) that would do exactly what i said no matter what the product is.

I say we all just let the team finish their game in the time that they see fit to. Most of this would have never been brought up had some mysterious Cubs fan not disappeared.....Think Markus wacked Cubby John Gotti style?

As long as it's released before June 21st, it's still set for a Spring release.

Debating is a good thing I actually think Markus (if he wanted to) could code the roster updates to only work on a specific version if he thought this was a decent idea. The April rosters only work with v11 and the ones that come with v12 only work on 12 - just a matter of coding and to add an installation for the roster set.

I do agree with you on the fact this wouldn't be necessary if people were as "chilled" as me (ROFL) but that's life I guess.
