Budget Issue - Impacts game play
I have played a few seasons... and in the first two i had no issues trading players in terms of the financials. Now in the third season, it seems that all teams are not able to take on salary of my players.. and vice versa.. (although this i can deal with by releasing some players). Also when the message comes that the team is unable to take on such a contract and it will reduce their budget to neg xyz... I checked the front office tabs and did my own math and it doesnt appear to be accurate. Anyway, now i cant trade anyone.. Clearly if a team is at or above budget then taking on a salary that is higher than the salaries they are giving back is not going to work.. This is reflecting reality.. I like that part... but, when I do match up salaries, it still gives an error, which doesnt make sense... is this a bug? Specific example...
Fictional League.. I am playing with Boston Elite.. trading my 33 SS in the last year of his deal... salary is $12,620,000... my budget is $150,000,000 my player payroll is $146,453,000 $s for free agents is $256,988 when i try to trade for SS Francisco Villega of the Brooklyn Enemies... I get the following message Brooklyn cannot afford the contracts of the offered players. Their projected budget room would drop by $1,057,778 to a total of -$1,183,248 Carlos Villa salary is $10,240,000k... so the difference between my player and theirs is $2,380,000 Brooklyn Enemies Budget is $120,000,000 Payroll is $107,238,000 $ for free agents $0 so a few questions pop up.. a) they are $13m below their budget so how can they go into negative territory b) i dont understand the math that is in the message I also see teams where their player payroll is higher than the budget... Is this a bug? These issues have destroyed my ability to trade players.. I have tried this now with at least 15 teams with the same result.... is this the intent or is this a bug? Thank you |

Sometimes fictional leagues will enter tough times financially, but over a few seasons this will even out and correct itself and players adjust their demands to what the market can offer...
The payroll can indeed be higher than the budget occasionally, for example when players receive high contracts through arbitration or when the market size drops and the owner adjusts his budget. In your case, trades would work if the players you offer have a lower salary than the players you receive. However, your owner would probably not allow this if you don't have budget room yourself... so, it is working as intended really.

I hope your right in this fixing. I just finished my second season and Im in the offseason now but i cant trade anyone. And I have a decent LF that I want to trade because I got someone in the freeagency. But no one is able to take him.
I did get a very surprising message at the end of the last season. My Fort Worth Diamond Dogs got bought by a new owner and I think this brough a lot of new cash. I have 210M now. And when I went through the other teams most of them are around 80-130M. So my new owner is really pushing me up there which is great. |

Markus, thanks... I will keep monitoring in the next few seasons if the situation evens out .. if not, will report what transpired. I love the game and the challenge of fielding a team within the budget framework... but have seen bugs around this in the past with OOTP games...

One more question on this subject... will there be a salary cap option in future updates?
