One of the most fun games in my OOTP history. I'll have to post the box score if I get around to it. I play with 32 man rosters. I think I have 13 pitchers and 19 batters on the roster, and everyone played except the next day's starting pitcher and one mop-up MR. I was down 1-run going into the bottom of the 19th, and I think both the tying and winning runs walked in. I will have to double check. I was in shock.

After a lot of testing, dead ends, and creative solutions, I finally got my dream universe set up. It's big but has moved along fine so far and gives me what I wanted.
I started with the MLB Quickstart (should mention I'm playing 10). I wanted all teams to have 1 short-season Single-A team and 2 rookie-level teams. I added a short-season Single-A league called the Eastern Canada League; my Twins affiliate is Prince Edward Island. I also added a rookie league in Ohio. Between these two leagues and moving Kansas City's 3rd Rookie team to SSA, I had the setup I wanted. I then added the standard Japanese, Mexican, and Cuban leagues. Early testing resulted in too many players going to Japan and Mexico, so I changed the setting to not allow FAs from other leagues. A few still end up in the Japanese AAA, but they are fringe players and I'm okay with that. Cuba has no free agency but each offseason I'm going to pick 10-12 players to be defectors. Not entirely sure of the criteria, but loyalty, ambition, and age are factors. The Mexican leaguers created initially are too good, so when they become free agents, I retire the best of them. Eventually, the lowered modifiers I set up will take effect and there won't be a lot of stars. I created a rather large feeder system, consisting of the following: -NCAA Tier 1 - 64 teams - Enter draft at 21, Intended to have powerhouses and larger D1 schools -NCAA Tier 2 - 64 teams - Enter draft at 22, Intended to have smaller, lesser D1 programs -NCAA Junior College - 16 teams - Enter draft at 20 -Minnesota Division 3 - 12 teams - Enter draft at 22 -United States HS - 60 teams (all HS/academy enter draft at 18) -Canada HS - 12 teams -Puerto Rico HS - 4 teams -European Academy - 10 teams -Asian Academy - 8 teams -Latin America Academy - 32 teams -South American Academy - 10 teams The academy leagues were compromises with my goal of having international amateur free agents. I could never get it to work like I wanted, so I decided to create a world draft and have academies set up around the world. Each team is designated by country, but have players from all countries in that academy league. Finally, I wanted independent leagues to soak up excess players. I needed to make sure these indy leagues didn't create too many of their own players. I set them all to have a 5 round draft, but with all draft eligible players created at 40 years old. These players retire shortly and create room for excess players from the feeders, MLB organizations, and foreign leagues. Here are the independent leagues, in order of salary cap, and notable players: -East Coast Baseball League - R. Sexson, T. Armas, M. Redman, C. James -Western Baseball League - J. Dillon, A. Melhuse, P. Byrd, M. Mulder -United Baseball League - L. Rivas, S. Traschel -Southeast Baseball League - P. Stockman, E. Loaiza -Southwest Baseball League -Rocky Mountain Baseball League -Dunder Mifflin Baseball League -Central Baseball League -Ontario Baseball League -North Texas Baseball League -John Henry Baseball League -British Columbia Baseball League The ECBL has 12 teams; the OBL, NTBL, JHBL, and BCBL have 6 teams; the rest have 8. I'm halfway through the 2009 season and enjoying the leagues. From my tests, I know that eventually former major leaguers will end up all the way down to the lesser indy leagues. I haven't played since May or so but today I started a new franchise with the Yankees. Kept pretty much anything at default. I always sim my games just to let u know. Then I had one game in June and that one was really sick. We (the Yankees) won 39-0 at home against the Blue Jays. I'm playing OOTP for years now but I can't remember that I've ever seen a team taking such a beating.
My team has a pretty good season anyway, A-Rod has already close to 30 homers and it's still june. Swish, Tex and Granderson also have 20+ homers. And Javy Vazquez even pitched a no hitter in his very first start of the season. Having a lot of fun playing OOTP right now ![]() if anybody's interested in the box score just let me know and I post a picture of that game.

Wow. The only bad thing about that that I can possibly think of is that it will take up a mammoth amount of space. But still... that sounds awesome |

I started out with 20 MLB teams. Two leagues of 10 teams divided in two 5 team divisions each. Loosely based on the 60s MLB teams but with fictional names and stadiums. Like the MLB New York, Chicago and LA each of two teams in separate leagues. I started in 2000 with just one level of minors.
I am now about to start the 2042 season, I also added one more level of minors. I also turned on evolving leagues for everything but schedule length, I like to keep it at 162. I now have 26 teams. Much like the real MLB from 1977-1992 I have 14 teams in the AL, divided into two 7 team divisions, and the NL has 12 teams with 6 team divisions. My NL briefly had the DH but dropped it interestingly. I created myself for the 2008 draft. Debuted in the 2010 season. I spent 19 seasons pitching for the Boston Pilgrims and retired after the 2028 season the all time wins leader but have since been passed twice. I am now the bench coach for the Washington Senators, also in the AL. I have had pretty good parity in my world, in 42 seasons I have 3 teams tied for the most World Series titles ever, each with 4. Boston is cursed in this league as well, they were a charter franchise and have yet to win a World Series and have only appeared once in 2038. Both Chicago teams have multiple titles though. I just sim and watch the history unfold, fun for me. |

I have a universe with roughly 45 leagues and it runs pretty smoothly. My major issues are backing up can be a pain - even zipped my .lg directory is 500-700 Mb. And searching for players can be hard. Just going to the free agents screen will make for a 10, 15-second delay as the game analyzes scouting reports for 1000s of players. Hit "shop player" and be prepared to get a cup of coffee and come back in five minutes when the game is done analyzing the needs of the 500+ teams.

Just expanded my fictional player MLB league from 24 teams (2 leagues with 12 teams each, no divisions, 4 top teams from each league make playoffs) to 32 teams. Reserrected the St. Louis Browns and the Montreal Expos and changed the Nationals to the Senators. The expanded version features two leagues with NFL style 4 divisions (East, North, Central, West) and NBA style playoffs where half the league (16 teams make the playoffs). This league features no minors, but teams carry a reserve roster. Just wanted to focus on the majors for now.
Here's how the divisions are set up... AL East: Yankees, Red Sox, Orioles, Rays AL North: Tigers, Brewers, White Sox, Expos AL Central: Indians, Twins, Royals, Browns AL West: Rangers, Athletics, Rangers, Mariners NL East: Mets, Braves, Senators, Rays NL North: Phillies, Cubs, Pirates, Blue Jays NL Central: Cards, Reds, Astros, Rockies NL West: Dodgers, Giants, Padres, D-Backs There are a few oldschool twists I'm giving a try as the reserve clause is in affect. Using the 25 year FA and 4 year arbitration scheme that was recommended by gammers on this board is working fantatstic. Seems to generate more interesting trades and offseason news than the other way I was handeling this. Also, using a 141 game schedule. Teams play 19 games against other 3 teams of division and 7 games against other 12 teams of league. No interleague games. Currently playing the second round of the playoffs. By the way, each round of the playoffs (1st Rd, 2nd Rd, LCS and WS) feature seven game series. My last seasons champions (Giants, believe it or not) have already been knocked out of the first round of the playoffs by the Cardinals. It has been more fun than I ever expected. |

I've just completed my 33rd year in my Promotion/Relegation league on my fictional island nation of Koana.
Megopolis ran away with their 8th title, their first in five years. The Titans have never finished below 8th since 1969, a whopping 23 years of winning records. ![]() Ruysdael's title drought continues. Having won 14 titles, including 6 straight, the Generals are now without the Super League title for over 9 years. ![]() Arbordale, in their first year in the top flight, finally succumbed to relegation despite battling bravely. The Power has a seasonla budget of roughly 20% to that of Megopolis'. Saffron will join Arbordale in Division 1 next season for their first season outside the top flight since 1960. In an emotional final game that saw the Knights defeat the new Champions 5-3 for their first win in 8 games, the fans vowed they would be back. Only 3 teams have maintained top flight status since the league started, Ruysdael, Megopolis and last season's Champions the Stondon Steelers. |

I started a standard MLB game with default settings as the Mets. I unfortunately feel like I need to tweak the settings a bit especially with injuries. Reyes and Beltran started on the DL as they did in real life, but not long after they returned each man saw another long stint on the DL. Wright spent like 2 months on the DL. Francoeur had 2 separate DL trips in the midst of a shockingly huge year. My minor leagues were ravaged with injuries. My #1 draft pick needed Tommy John within 2 starts. I feel like the game was trying to make me relive 2009 and I hope injuries aren't that bad every year.
In terms of on-the-field play, it was the polar opposite of the real 2010. My hitting was absolutely amazing but the pitching was atrocious beyond words. Santana had a really bad year. K-Rod was demoted from the closer's role but anyone who filled in for him was equally terrible. After a hot start I faded away in mid-year and finished 78-84, tied for 4th with the Phillies oddly enough. Fired everybody except hitting coach Howard Johnson and my scouting director (even though a lot of people I've gotten had HUGE potential ratings only to drop to 1 star potential as soon as I signed them, maybe a scouting error?) I DID unload Castillo and Perez, which was nice. Made a few pitching-related signings in the offseason. Hope it's a better year and that my guys can stay healthy. |

Have always played fictional and have just started a small Universe which may grow over time, centred around New York City and (in my mind) currently consisting of recreational/semi-pro leagues (so no financials) that may become Independant pro leagues in the future paying salaries etc
Main League is the All-Boro Baseball League - 20 teams split into 2 sub leagues with 2 Divs in each; one team from each NYC boro in each divsion; 78 game season with games played on Fri/Sat/Sun only (as the players are meant to be working for a living!) and stadiums set for parks in the locaility of each team (minimal attendance figures currently means 30 people recently attended a game between the Brooklyn Atlantics and the Central Park Cubs!); rosters are only 23 players (3 -man rotations because of the weekend only games) with a 15 man reserve roster Didnt adjust Major League modifiers as this is the top league in my universe - only into the first season but seems to be working OK Created an 8 team AAA level league which isnt affiliated currently - the Long Island Summer League; two divisions of 4 teams (split between Nassau Count Div and Suffolk County Div); idea being the ABBL teams may cherry pick the best players - league games are double headers on Saturdays only Finally, a AA independant league based around the Emergency Services teams that exist (NYPD Finest/FDNY Bravest etc) - no trading allowed with this league - just thought it was a nice league to have playing away in the background Over time may grow the ABBL into larger stadiums (both real and fictional), introduce salaries and maybe a level of minors; may also add a few more leagues along similar lines - prefer smaller leagues to get to know the players

Nothing too exciting as I've just been playing a 2010 game as the Braves. What is cool though is that I drafted some guy in the second round as a reliever and he'd been my setup man for a couple years, then I noticed at the end of 2014 that he'd developed a decent splitter out of nowhere. I threw him in the rotation and he's now won three straight Cy Young awards and the splitter has become a third great pitch of his. Another cool thing is that he actually gets used as a defensive replacement at second base by the AI a few times a year.
