How do you make a roster?
Hi guys,
I really, really want a 2011 *** roster. Over the last 3 years, I've tried to make my own using the player editor, but with it's limitations I give up in frustration after a few players. Not to mention when it comes to things like pitches, pitch speed, etc I end up guessing. There is also no way to enter back-info, what the player/league did in previous years. What databases do you guys play with to make the rosters? What tools do you use? Or maybe I should use an older version of OOTP to do this. Like i said, when it comes to some stuff, I am just guessing. I kind of wish I had an old-school basic version of the baseball like Micro League Baseball to do this. I just want to enter some stats and play baseball, not seek out photos, guess what pitches the guy throws, what level his greed is, what his current contract is, etc. So advice, please. Thanks, Tom

Tom r u talking about adding career stats to players? the only way to do this that i know of ( I have been waiting to hear from Cubbyfan for 3 months on the same topic) is to export the stats and add to them then re import them..
I have been wanting to create myt EBL league from where I left off in 2038 vs doin it from 2003 the way I am doing now. I just dont feel like having it take me 34 months to enter 1500 players worth of career stats especially if I cant add the history of the league. |

Well, there's no easy way to do this, of course, but here's a suggestion for you:
1. Download Gambo/Spritze's database (found here: http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...-released.html). It includes all past and current *** and KBO players, along with all former MLB'ers who've migrated east (Brian Bannister, Chan Ho Park, etc.). 2. Install the DB in your "stats" folder (located in the "Out of the Park Developments/OOTP_Baseball_11" folder). I suggest opening a new folder in "stats" for this, if you don't want to replace your original db files with this DB. 3. Start a new game, using the *** template included in the game. Set the start date on 01/01/2011 and customize your league settings to your liking. 4. Delete all fictional players and manually import each real player from the Gambo/Spritze DB into the FA pool. 5. Go into the player editor's page and assign them to their respective club(s) and you should be set. This procedure can take a little while, but it's certainly much quicker and easier than editing all players manually. Besides, you'll get accurate player data (ht., wt., b/t, date and place of birth, etc.) and ratings based on RL stats (though the 2010 season's not included, I'd imagine). Please lemme know if you have any questions, but I hope this helps. |

When importing the players, I'm getting the message "The historical player import failed". The players are in the database, and I'm pretty sure I'm entering the proper player id (Aoki, Norichika is aokino95 or Ishikawa, Masanori is ishikma96) and I've tried scaling the year back. First I try 2010, then 2009, then 2008. Same error. Any idea why?
Thanks, Tom

When the import pop up window appears, you must enter the DB you want to import from. Have you made sure to choose the right (Gambo/Spritze) DB when trying to import the players?
EDIT: the year should not be the problem, as long as you make sure to import the players' stats from the last 3 yrs. (neutralized, preferably, though that's not as important). But just make sure that you're choosing the right DB path. Last edited by Marberi; 04-26-2011 at 05:37 PM. |

I think I see the oddity that is causing this. It seems for all the Japanese players, the B field is empty, and I'm finding the playerid in the AD field.
Not sure if i want to edit the database. When I tried to put the info from the AD field into the B field for a single player to test it, I got warnings from excel that it may not save properly. This may explain when I tried to import an American player (Josh Whitesell) it worked OK, tho his *** stats were not in there. Tom

Well, to be totally honest, I haven't imported ***/KBO players from the latest Gambo/Spritze DB. I had no problems with previous DB's though, which is why I thought this could be the best way to go.
I wouldn't recommend editing the DB either, for the same reasons you've stated. Perhaps you should contact Gambo or Spritze to see if they can help? 'cause at this point, I'm as lost as you. Sorry I can't be of more help. |

I tried the real debut databases (several of them). It was a step-forward in some of the players were there and would get created, but only as a 1B with no history or ratings.
Thanks for the help. I give up, tho. Tom

Despair not, my friend! Have you checked out afterburner's WBC quickstart?
It includes all MLB'ers and Minor Leaguers that come in the original OOTP 11 DB, plus *** and KBO players with real life ratings! All you'd have to do is delete the National Teams, add an *** template, delete fictional players and assign each real player to their respective team. The catch here is the settings. Since it's a QS based on an Intl. tourney, financials are off. Also, P's stamina is very low (due to WBC pitch count restrictions) and some other stuff, such as WP's, balks, etc. may be a little off. But, since OOTP is so customizable, this shouldn't pose much of a problem, me thinks, as you can get the settings to your liking. So, there you go, Tom. Not the most conventional choice, perhaps, but another option for you to get an *** 2011 sim going. You can find the QS here: http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...-ver1-0-a.html PS: Lemme know if you encounter any problems with the link, so I can provide you with a copy of the QS.
