I've never had much of a desire to join these forums, and the attitude of the elitists (not surprisingly, this group has a strong crossover with the apologists I mentioned above) is a big reason why. In fact I rarely visit here, and once this game is finally released (if it ever is), I probably won't be around until next spring. But somebody needed to step up and say what I said. I knew the apologists wouldn't like it, but it's all 100% true. I realize trying to argue with them is like talking to a brick wall(and a brick wall that thinks the Earth is flat at that), so I'm not going to bother replying to them. My work here is done. |

I know we are supposed to be nice with the newbie but.... common "my work is done here"
![]() Big work indeed I can understand it burned you so much that you must need a year to rest and recover of this hard task of cut and paste.

With 2 or 3 threads like this going at the same time and the number of pissed off people my question is why is Markus so quite?

![]() And I think it's safe to say you missed my point. See, all I did was debunk the entire "he has a life" argument. Markus should and probably does set aside the time needed to work on the game. If not specific hours (X to X every day), then certainly X number of hours a day or week. My point was, his "other life" shouldn't cut in to that time. He has the rest of the day to live his other life. I could be wrong, but I'm guessing that's what he does, since I've only seen other people use that argument. I was just trying to point out that it holds no water and they should stop using it. I cannot answer your last question without knowing Markus's schedule. Was he supposed to work last Sunday morning? If so, clearly helping his friend would be skipping work. If not, clearly it would not be. I replied to these two because they were mature and respectful for the most part(aside from putting words in my mouth, but what can ya do?), unlike others(not to name names, but AESP_pres knows who he/she/it is) who were childish and immature. ![]() ![]() ![]() You mean the Eart isnt flat? This thread is my favorite...Mort I am on my way to joining u in Ban Land. I have a stalker that everytime I post something has to come in and say something dumb, I respond back the way I would on Moco, and i get infractions for it, even when the mod who gave me the infraction might agree with me. I dont see what the big deal is Wolf may not agree with me on this (talking the other thread Wolf) but I could care less when the game comes out. 13 on the other hand I will be the 1st person to start this thread. Man Candy u sure like to blast people for absolutely no reason. So the news letter didnt say an exact date, chill. "Date", "season" its all the same. Henry's comment was before Goodsox said that u dont have another account, yet u go off on him, shows truly what type of person u r. Dont know whats going on with u going off on RCW. To my knowledge Markus hasnt missed a deadline yet, still has 2 months to go. Why should Markus post daily or even weekly about when a possible release "date" would be? From what I have seen since the newsletter has come out he has posted about every 2 weeks on various topics. I forgot who did this might have been earlier in this thread but they had the release date of the past 5-7 versions of OOTP. Avg release date is 5/17 i think right around there so 3 more weeks to go. I think the latest 1 of those versions was released was 6/20 earliest was maybe 3/19. Doesnt the maker of a game get to decide his own work schedule? that was odd on both sides of the agrument. What I dont get is why people complain so much about the release date. OOTP isnt EA, they dont have 200 people working on the game. Madden comes out pretty much on the same date yearly because they have tons of people working on it and every yr it comes out its loaded with bugs, OOTP overall doesnt have that, and last time I checked EA doesnt do multiple patches to correct any problems like 11 did. Also the 1 madden forum I was on before they stopped making it for PC, didnt have a page to voice your concern or complaints about the game daily, this place does and from what I have seen has some of the best modders any pc game I have played has. this is a great community overall, unless u r from Tennessee, lets Play Ball!! Someone needed to step up and say what's been stated by multiple people? Yeah, I don't buy that. I mean honestly, what do you think was accomplished by 'it' being said? Nothing, but stoke the flames, which, in the end, was your intended result. By the way, thanks for sparing us your presence here until this point if this is all you have. We really have been blessed up to this point. You honestly registered just to say that Markus had time set aside to code and could live his life after work? Really, dude? I realize that I am a late to join the party here, but I just wanted to post my thanks to endgame for resurrecting that hilarious thread from a few years back. I regret that I didn't post something in it at the time, so I wanted to make sure that when he pulls this one out of the trash heap five years from now, i'll have a chance to find myself in it!
I love these annual complaint threads. Can we create a hall of fame section of the forum for threads like these that are generated by all of us just sitting around waiting for the release? It's splendid testimony to the corrosive (or creative -- take your pick!) effects of boredom. |

This reminds be of one of the guys on the old High Heat Dugout board (I believe it was) who was spamming the boards with like multiple different names.
It came to find out that it was some teenage kid who used his own home but also set up an accounts at friends houses and another couple while on vacation during Spring Break (oddly I have nephews are in town this week from NY during Spring Break). It was funny because they would ban him from the boards and he'd pop up a couple days later post something obnoxious then repeat the cycle. You could tell it was the same person by the way things were worded, self quoting different id's and as it progressed blatantly admitting what he was doing. I told myself last night I wasn't going to read the thread anymore. It was a good idea then and still is one. That's why I set up this thread a couple of weeks back. ![]() http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...12-thread.html

Your "work" here was useless and pointless. A lot of us have been trying to quiet the childishly impatient down and your "work" just made things worse for everyone. It was not helpful. So you won't be around until next Spring? May I suggest Spring 2045 instead?

I think this year we are looking at a bit of a double edged sword around both the release of Ootp12 and roster updates. In the past when the newest version of Ootp has released after the start of the MLB season we have always had a roster update to use with the prior version so we could get our "fix" on before the new Ootp version came out.
This year, I think we were all excited to see that Cubby Fan was close to completing an update, unfortunately he posted multiple times, starting in December "next week" and then went completely dark a few months ago and has not been heard from since. That eliminated the "fix" we were hoping for to go along with start of the MLB season. Couple that with the pending launch of the new version of Ootp and you have some frustration. We are all watching the first few weeks of the season play out on TV, getting excited about baseball after the winter and wish we had some way to channel that excitement to Ootp. Long story short, I think the best solution in the future would be to have some sort of roster update available for the current version of the game prior to the start of any new season, unless of course the developer were confident that the new version of the game would launch prior to the start of the season. I agree that Markus should not release the game until he is ready to - he takes pride in his work and we all appreciate these nearly bug free releases. At the same time I know a lot of personal time by guys like Cubby Fan go into these roster updates, maybe there is a way to formalize that process and generate some revenue from it (someone suggested charging $10 for an update) while also keeping the legions of fans engaged with the game and happy. |

I don't feel my position here is extreme in any way. I just wanted more information. I dont think that I'm OWED information, but I feel that on a message board for a game, questions should be able to be asked politely without being labeled one way or another.
Anyway, I've said my piece and I personally feel better and don't feel I need to push the issue. I realize a lot of you might not agree with me still after this, and that's cool. I won't argue your position on the subject. Cheers!

My impression is that OOTP 12 is more in the former category -- a revision of OOTP 11 in Markus' quest to perfect how the game operates, plus enough new features to make truly a new version and not simply an update. Even if OOTP 12 is just a "souped-up version" of OOTP 11, I'd implore you to not be "very disappointed" such that you "won't be purchasing any more in the future". Even if the differences between OOTP 11 and 12 may be less than you want, the differences between 12 and 13 may be monumental. The law of diminishing returns applies here -- when you are already the best, most feature-packed and flexible game out there, how many more significant advances can you have from year to year? Eventually this game with hit the top of the maturity curve. cbbl |

and I didn't expect a reply since I didn't ask a question but laugh of you. Seriously you register on a board to do a cut and paste job, talk about what you didn't know, show that you don't know how to read (and use some logic needed to understand a word) and make a big dramatic "My work here is done" exit... BTW next time you wrote you won't reply and don't came back untill next year do it, coming back to post some hours later make you like the worthless troll you probably are...

this thread should just be locked down, it stopped being productive a long time ago, now it is just name calling and rehashing the same arguments that no one wins.
Would be nice to have an update thread stickied where only Markus or mods could post updates, then this wouldn't happen. |
