Pitcher as Pinch Runner

I was playing a playoff game...I pinch-hit for the pitcher, got a hit. Next hitter gets a double but gets hurt sliding into second. Since I could use the pinch hitter in the field (and this was just the fifth inning at Coors Field, so I figured I'd need to save the bench as long as I could), I decided to pinch-run with one of my starting pitchers, Pope. When I did this, the game inserted Pope as the pitcher, not as a pinch runner. The inning goes on and ends, and it goes to the lineup screen since my PH wasn't put in a position yet. I moved the defense where I needed them to go and tried to put a reliever in. It said Pope has to pitch to at least one batter, but it cleared his position and wouldn't let me position him as the pitcher. The game essentially hung there because I couldn't list Pope as the pitcher and I couldn't put one in for him.

Keep up the good work...this is the best text game I've ever played, and I've played some that will keep me up literally all night into the next day.

In order to use a pitcher as ANYTHING other than a pitcher you must actually change his position using the editor.

However, the computer seems to be able to pinch run with pitchers just fine, as I've seen them do it before, if I'm not mistaken.
