Ballpark and Weather effects
Hello all:
I am looking forward to returning to OOTP12. I do have one question. Have unique ballpark effects and weather effects been included in the game? Thanks in advance for your response. Bob M |

Yes, but beware, because unfortunately in 11 (as in virtually all versions since 6.5, which I really don't recall), you can still have things like rain delays in a retractable roof stadium and an open roof in Texas in July (or August), where at least in Houston, it's never happened in the 10+ years that Minute Maid Park has been open.
Hopefully 12 will address things like this. They're small, but annoying and affect the overall credibility of the game. |

speaking of ballparks.... i would love to see OOTP allow major league teams the option to assign two ballparks, one for spring training and one for regular season...seems easy enough...as the game would know which to use based on the game type in the schedule ... hate seeing Braves play Red Sox in spring game and weather be 25 degrees! at the moment i go through and assign each team the spring stadium then have to change it back for regular season .. quite a pain !

While I'm not certain that my response is actually what the OP was looking for, it's certainly part of the weather/ballpark equation and the bottom line is that the game does not handle retractable roof stadiums accurately. Rain delays in a retractable roof stadiums don't happen (though they do in the game). The open roof problem in July and August in places like Texas, Arizona and Florida may well be more of an issue with the weather database than it's interaction with the stadium type. Nonetheless it's a failure to reproduce what really happens and to suggest that an inaccurate stadium designation is the answer, fails to acknowledge the fact that the feature does not work properly and in turn, does not benefit the game in the long run. Is it a really big deal? Absolutely not. Is it frustrating and disappointing to see it fail to be addressed from one version to the next? Yes, mostly because this is a truly great game, but little things like this pick away at the reality/credibility when you see them on a daily basis. Sorry bud, I misread your post. I read dome when you wrote retractable. Which explains I hope, the confusion. I agree with your complaint now that I read it.

Just one of those little things that bugs me and at least from my very limited perspective should be fixed. No idea how easy or hard it might be, which is always part of the equation. |

On ball parks, I'd love teams to be able to allocate funds to begin building new parks. I think that'd be awesome, much more so than the boring way of just editing it.
Also teams (for International and Major Leagues) should have to start building a new stadium in a city, before they want to move or there should be a park already in the city in the database. |
