Lack of Starting Pitchers

I've played seven years and have only found two starters. Both were high draft picks and clearly designated as starters. I play without scouting and the ratings of one group puzzles me. Some of these guys are rated 20/80 but are rated bullpen only. Why the 80 rating if they're only suitable as relievers?

I've read a lot of these threads about adding a third pitch and stretching out a strong reliever. How exactly do I do this? Do I force some of my relievers to become starters and see what happens? I need some help, guys.

The game considers any pitcher with only 2 pitches a reliever. This as far as I know can only be changed in the player editor (commish mode) by just giving him a third pitch. I've heard of guys who have developed a pitch naturally but I have never seen it myself. As far a stretching out a pitcher, this I do know about. Find one you would like to make a starter but now because of stamina just can't make it. Change his position to SP. In the game when he get tired, leave him in...when he gets exhausted, keep him for a few more pitches (I wouldn't advise more than 2 batters at absolute most). After a while his stamina will go up and voila a (hopefully) decent pitcher that can make it into the latter innings.

The 20/80 means that the player is currently rated as a 20 out of a possible 80, which as low as you can get on the standard scout rating scale. A starter who's rated 20/80 and is tagged as bullpen only for MLB is tagged that way because, relative to MLB, he stinks.

There's also the 2-pitch thing too.

Their current suggested role may be bullpen only or borderline starter, but you have to look at the potential of their pitches. If they have 3 or more pitches rated at 4 out of 10 or better, they will be a starter.
