Just started to simulate a league of my own. After the first day's games are simmed, the game crashes after scheduling promos. What can I do?

I ahve a Dell 7500 Inspiron with Pentium III processor, 128 RAM, 2 GB harddrive and Direct 7x. I am pretty sure that it meets all the requirements.

And yet some additional information. The problem only occurs with league I created. This league is made up of fictional players and players imported from Lahman's database. I have reset the league and tried to reload to no avail. Hope this helps you solve my problem.

Try the "Run Computer Manager" from the League Setup options. It is possible that something happened to a player or some lineup/rotation wasn't filled. Try it, and if it fixes the problem (which it hopefully will) great, if not then we'll have some extra info to work with.

Often it seems to take several resets before whatever was wrong fixes itself. I will sometimes set all teams to AI control before running automanager as well in case there is a roster issue with my team that is not displayed in the game.

The schedule promo crashes are usually due to memory issues. Here are some other related suggestions: - Make sure you have plenty of hard drive space free. Low hard drive space impacts memory usage as well and is probably the #1 cause of OOTP crashes due to the fact the game uses up a large amount of disk space as you run it. I make sure I always have 1 gig free, if you only have a 2 gig drive you may not be able to do that, free up as much space as you can though. This sounds like the problem, and even if you fix the current crash, more crashes will follow without the disk space. - Limiting the amount of programs running at one time (like turning off background programs) will help the game run smoother, faster, and will help avert game crashes related to memory and/or system resource usage. - Also update your Direct X to the most recent version (8.1 or something) from the microsoft site. May not impact this issue but will likely cause other problems if you don't update it. Good luck & let us know what happens. |

Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately, after implimenting all of your suggestions, I still have the same problem. I have tried the other leagues that came with the game with some success. Do you think the answer lies with the fact that I am mixing fictional players with imported players from the Lahman database? Again, thanks for your help.
