I don't know, I kind of enjoy the nearly bug free releases. The last few OOTP's I have bought have been virtually bug free for what I use them for. Sure, there may be some small bugs for fictional leagues and/or online leagues but I've not experienced any of them. They haven't crashed or anything on me. I can dig that and if it takes them until mid-April to put out a release as stable as that then that is fine with me.

Ultimately, you can't compare OOTP to Madden or something like that. Sure, the "big games" may come out before opening day but they are also, essentially, roster patches. They add very little and have a team of tens or hundreds (I have no idea, but it's more than two) people working on them.

OOTP usually (I'm not sure about this year) adds a lot of new features and has two guys working on it.

So, if you ask me? Be patient, a good game is worth waiting two weeks for IMO. The last thing I want OOTP to do is follow the EA model for sports games. If they went to that model I wouldn't buy another OOTP. If I have to wait a few more weeks then I am fine with that.

P.S. - On a side note, what was it? OOTP 6 that didn't release until June or July of the season? Some of these guys would have died if they had to experience that.

Listen, if Markus and crew could put out version 12 completely bug free and stable out of the box in every way, hell, I'll wait till Christmas for it to come out. I'm just hoping the beta testers chosen to test this version put in some dedicated time to put out a rock solid game. Take all the time you need to do so guys. Hell, you can even have fun playing while you're testing, just as long as you're logging the bugs so Markus can knock'em out. Take your time.

I don't see this need to get the game out by opening day. Who cares? (I guess one guy does. ) I have version 11 to mess with if I am having a baseball withdraw or jones. Of course I play mainly in online leagues, so the league I'm in now probably won't switch to version 12 till at least a month after release anyway, and rightfully so. The CDL has been playing for 77 game years now, so no need to have the league file blown-up by switching to a flawed version.

These are just my opinions, and others may differ. (They usually do.)

While it is frustrating to have to wait until May when other games are coming out at the beginning of March, I don't really complain too much, I love the game, it's easily the best.

But I guess I have a hard time understanding, do they just wait until later in the year to get started? Do rosters take that long to update and then send through? Is Beta testing that long of a process? Not to simplify things, but if they started earlier in the year, could they not get it out earlier? Or do they work year round and can't get started until the release of the current game?

I also understand they get patches out etc.

You aren't willing to wait past Opening Day for the best baseball game in the world? As Harry Carey would have said, holy cow.

And it's not "a new season's game." It's OOTP 12, the next version. It will have features a lot of us have been waiting years for. It will be well worth the wait.

I don't understand people without patience. Or people with ADD, either.

Exactly. I have no patience with people who show no patience! (See what I did there?)

Do you know something the rest of us don't know DiMaggio?

Is the release date in June? That's when half the season is over.

I'm interested in OOTP's product, and if it comes out before OD, I want it and will buy it. If it comes out after OD, I don't want it anymore. And I certainly don't need it. So why would I spend money on something I don't want or need?
Is it me, or does this statement completely contradict itself?

Personally, I'm going to hold my breath and stomp my feet if it's not out before first pitch. Because it's simply not the same game and not worth it 5 minutes later.

So there.

My opinion is...if you don't want to buy the game in April or May...

Don't...

They'll survive. On the other hand, my head from the broken logic might not

It's silly to critisize those without patience, for we all have things in life that try ours.

If he doesn't want to buy the game after OD that his call. if he hasn't played this game and he is a baseball fan, he'll be missing out. i don't even call myself a baseball fan anymore (since the early 90's), but i love this game. totally fascinated by the depth of the game, the customization, and the depth of the stats in the game. These guys seem to pride themselves in putting out the best game possible, and they do. It doesn't matter when it comes out because it will be a quality product.

There is a big difference between having your patience tried and not having any patience at all. It's the difference between adulthood and childhood.

or the good old "I want it now" generation as I call them often. Not all of them, but some of them are pathetic (just try to frequent some cult movies board and you will understand really fast).

Yeah, I always think of Veruca Salt in "Willie Wonka". Classic.

Did someone say the game was going to be out in May? I thought it was by easter, which is April 24th. Don't know where May came from
