I heard it was a self inflicted gunshot to the chest.

They donated his brain , its good that they will get a chance to see how bad it was and what caused him to do this. It was suicide

His age and unfortunate suicide are suggestive of traumatic brain injury. The recent setbacks in his life are very much the same story as many other ex-NFL players.
