Have they?? This is news to me, do you have a link to this mate? Not saying it isn't true but can't see nothing about it here Sports Interactive - Softography

The only games they make that I know of are Football Manager and Football Manager Live.

It's in Beta right now. The Official Site of MLB Manager Online Someone posted it in the OT section of the OOTP boards in mid December.

I could be wrong (I often am) but this looks like a Sega project not SI. I know Sega own SI now but I am on speaking terms with Miles (studio director at SI) so I will ask him about this. Cheers for the info.

Here is Miles's tweet

"Nothing to do with us at all. I believe it's SEGA of Korea's baby, with an American version of it."

To clarify, will the proposed new version be sold exclusively through Apple? Meaning no windows version of TB3? I've talked to a few IT guys and none of them have any interest in Apple products in general and the iPad in particular. Most are waiting to see what comes out in the gadget market this year. I still prefer something the size of a paperback novel to the 9-10" iPad. Just too big to use on the bus or subway.

Its is not my intention to supply exclusivly on Apple. At present the GUI is designed around a full PC screen specification. This will prob run on iPad, but its not been compiled and tested on the iPad yet.

In fact, the new TBCB 2.6/3.0 has only been used on Linux so far Its my understanding that first release will be Windows, mac and Linux with iPad/iPhone a little later. Tho this is not "set in stone" as Andreas and I have not worked out the details of release yet. We thought we ought to get the game working before we decided how we will release it!

Its still in development so no formal testing has been done. I am using Mandriva and PCLinuxOS for development and its working fine without any problems. To my knowledge OOTP11 Linux works on a wide range of distros, including Ubuntu, which has the same underlying code framework so TBCB should work the same.

What distro do you use? Does this mean you are gonna apply to be a tester when we get that far?

Yes, EHM was a great game. It was built on the CM3 code base which was the first code I wrote for SI all those years ago. I believe Riz still works at SI on FM.

Yes, I joined SI at the start of CM3. My role was to do the underlying tech so I was first to code on most games. I was the first to write CM4 and FML code. In fact FML uses the PISD layers that OOTP and TBCB3 are built on. I also did the first Mac port of FM and the first Linux port of FM, tho the linux port was never released by SI.

I'm glad my friend Javier is happy with Linux, but I have a feeling most of us still have to struggle along with some variation of Windows.

I had hoped that Apple would produce a smaller version of the iPad, but that looks unlikely and the reviews are hardly glowing for the 7" Galaxy Tab. Sales are way below expected numbers.

I was hoping to be able to play TB3 during my commute this year. We have three dogs, and what with all the other things that seem to arise, the trips to and from work look like the only really free time I have to mess about with games.

I've tried loading the older version on my Acer mini-notebook, but that went nowhere. Then the battery died on me. So much for that idea. Still can't figure out why it wouldn't work on the mini, but I've read comments elsewhere from guys who can't seem to get the game going on their particular computing machines.

No way I'm shelling out more cash for a device until TBCB3 comes out. The trend seems to be moving away from laptops and desktops towards touch-screen tablets and they cost quite a bit if you have to sign up with one of our two main ISPs here in Canada. The move there seems to be to more and more restrictions on usage.

Once we have TBCB3 out I would like to look at smaller devices. Maybe we could run some tests on your Acer netbook. The PISD layers themselves will handle small devices well, we have iPhone apps and NDS homebrew working. My guess is that the database size is the most likely problem as it would swallow memory on a small device. We might be able to tune it down to run on a small device.

This is one for the future tho as we need to have the game out first.
