After about 6 enjoyable and succesful seasons, i am now having problems with my season locking/freezing. As the game has been operating fine for a month and 1000's of games, I doubt that it's something I've done wrong, or the OS of my computer - but now I can't get through a week of simulating without a freeze. If I shut down the game and restart, the season is usually preserved at the "lock-out" point, but again, I can only sim a few days before repeating the process?
Suggestions? Ideas? |

Yes, check the lineups, depth charts, and pitching rotations of the teams. (Or just run computer manger on all teams (from the league setup) Typically this bug occurs because one of these is no longer valid (perhaps due to injury or trade) or the scheduled starting pitcher is injured. Make sure that all players in the lineups have positions as well, sometimes the player will be in the lineup and not have a position and this also can cause a problem.

Thanks - but I don't think that it's anything that simple. As I mentioned, I've played several seasons already with no problems (I have all teams but mine set to CPU, and there have been hundreds of injuries that didn't shut down the league in my previous seasons). Also when I do restart, the league will contiunue for a day or two before locking up again, indicating that it was no specific game, or team, or roster problem that caused the initial break down.

I don't think it will hurt if you just humor me and try it, who knows it might even work out that, that was the problem. In my time on the forum here upwards of 90% of these errors (even when there doesn't seem to be a rhyme or reason or a team causing the error) turn out to be something like this. If I'm wrong, so what, you aren't any worse off than you were before... If I'm right then you've solved your problem... either way what do you have to lose. You asked for suggestions and ideas so I presented one, its your call whether to try it or not. |

Sorry, didn't meant to seem ungrateful (thus the "Thanks" in the salutation).
Naturally I did try your suggestion (and, as mentioned, already had other teams set on CPU), but my freezing persists. I suppose that I was trying to be polite when I said that I "didn't think that was the problem", but ended up offending you. That wasn't the problem. But thank you. Any other ideas? |

I wasn't offended although it did sound like you weren't going to take the suggestion which is why I replied in the fashion I did. I'm sorry it didn't work out, but just setting the teams to CPU isn't how to correct this problem. Did you actually run the computer manager (from the League Setup Screen->Run Computer Manager on All Teams), or manually check the lineups? Just setting the team to computer doesn't guarentee that they will assess the lineup and correct the errors, in fact many times the error is on the computer run team.
Maybe there is an injured player in the depth chart so when the game tries to call on him to start he can't go and this is causing the problem. Not sure what else it could be, as I mentioned over 90% of the time errors during the games simming are something to do with the lineups, depth charts, or pitching staffs of one or more of the teams. I guess if you've already run the Computer Manager we'll have to wait to see if anyone else has any suggestions for this. |

If it were me I'd make sure I 1) turn trading off, 2) set all team to computer control, 3) run automanager, 4)turn trading back on, 5) assign my team to human control again, and then try to sim.
If that did not work I'd guess the league file is partially pooched, maybe due to corrupt files from all the crash/freezes, and I'd suggest resetting the league and starting the season again from opening day. It sounds strange but you may actually have to do this reset process once or twice before whatever the problem was is flushed away and the season sims smoothly again. Other users have said it only started working smoothly on the 2nd or 3rd reset so have some patience and good luck .
