If this feature comes back, they need to bring back the feature where using the mouse or keyboard played a part in the result of an AB. I always got better results using a mouse.

Gee, Charlie, I would have thought you would appreciate the 3D graphics possibilities of this!

Rather dismissive, aren't you, when you're not interested in something?

I always liked this feature before and wouldn't mind seeing it come back.

Nah, I didn't intend it to be dismissive. I guess I was figuring he was looking for that kind of fantasy life immersion, and a baseball sim certainly isn't going to provide much of that beyond the actual sporting aspect.

But then he said he was only interested because he wanted to see father/son combos in his game. So I guess he's not really looking for that immersion anyway.

"This was quite possibly the dumbest feature ever."

Looks like your opinion didn't change in 2 years.

Why not just cut out the middleman and go straight to ITP2? That was a fun little game for awhile and had all the fantasylife you could handle for about 2 weeks. Once I got laid and got called up to the majors, the thrill was gone.

It was a fun gimmick. Mostly, it was fun to watch your kids grow into mlb players, and to break up with the girlfriend (in-game) after a bad season. As said above, if it took 0 minutes of time that could go into fixing bugs or improving the game, do it. If not, not worth it.

I definitely would, though, like to see a bit more apparent history in the game. So have kids of former MLB players make it to the draft (as their actual kids, and not just "Hey, I remember having a Fielder 22 years ago on my team. I assume this is his kid, even if that guy was a big black guy born in the US and this is a skinny white kid born in Aruba"). Or if that's already in, put in in some place that I actually look

I'd rather see retired players come back as coaches, or is this already possible?

You can right click on any retired player and select "Bring back as coach".

This happens now. The game turns some into coaches on its own, and in commissioner mode you can force a retired player to become a coach.

It just makes the game seem cheap and hokey

Actually, this shouldn't be very difficult to add to storylines. I'm sorry to have to disagree with the majority here, especially considering how fervently many of you have expressed your disdain for this feature, but this is the kind of thing that will enhance off-field storylines and make them feel more realistic. Keep in mind, storylines are a BIG part of immersion and immersion is a primary focus for OOTP 12.

But before anyone gets the undies in a bunch over this, please understand that what I'm talking about here is quite different than the way wives/girlfriends were implemented years ago. I agree with those of you who complain that the early version of this feature seemed gimmicky and cheesy. The old incarnation lacked context, which made it feel out of place. However, in storylines, they will be more subtle, yet have more relevance. So I'm personally looking forward to their inclusion again in OOTP.

My immersion comes from the game itself, the stats, records, setting the teams up and such. I couldn't care less about storyline's and all these goofy news stories. Adding the wives thing would be a waste of coding and take space from more important features.

2 things people at these boards do not like. New members that are not as knowledgeable as the rest of us and people who recommend features that the majority regards as not being worth it. I can definitely see why people would not take part in these forums. The elitist attitude around here really takes away from the community feel. For such an amazing game thats very sad.

I agree. I personally don't let such things bother me though, and continue my (fruitless, so far) campaigns for, among other things, Women's Leagues and switch pitching.
