Historical League Questions
I'm thinking of doing a historical league starting sometime in the 1970s. How do I make sure accurate rookie classes are entered in the draft? Do I have to manually input the expansion teams or will the game bring those teams into existence itself when it's supposed to happen?
Does anyone have any advice to offer regarding historical leagues?

OOTP has league settings that allow you to tell it to automatically import historical rookies. This will be set by default. You can also choose whether you want to the rookies to be imported into an amateur draft or have them assigned automatically to their real life teams.
If you have turned on the option to automatically expand (which is the default), then the game will create teams like the Seattle Mariners and Toronto Blue Jays. However, it will run an expansion draft and will not simply create these teams exactly as they were at the start of the season. If you want the team to have their exact rosters at the start of the season, then you might want to expand the league manually and then move the players accordingly using the editor. Or you could simply create a new game that starts in 1977. Then you'd get both of those teams as they entered the year, and expansion has already taken place. My best advice is to read the manual section on historical play. |
