Manager advancement question

I'm looking to purchase OOTP 11 and had a quick question. I downloaded the demo version and was playing around with all the different ways to play. One way that really interested me was creating a league and starting as a low rookie ball manager for a rookie league team. My question is this, Does the opportunity to move up within an organizatino present itself? Or are all job offers from outside the organization your currentloy employed in? So if I have several fantastic seasons managing the Dodgers rookie league team, will they offer to move me up say to AA ball and manage there? And if so, can you ever move up to a GM position and have total control over the franchise? Sorry if these have been asked b4. Thanks for any insight.

Yes, this can happen, but there is some randomness involved based on the team owner and the managers ahead of you. I played one league where I would manage in the minors, take over as GM for the draft (by going to commisioner mode) and then return to my old job. I got promoted from Rookie league up through AAA ball, but the owner liked the way the ML manager was winning with my talent so he kept getting 3 year extensions. Maybe if I was more patient I would have gotten there eventually.

Be advised that managing in the minors can be a bit frustrating as the AI loves swapping players up and down and you seem to always have to be fiddling with your line-ups.

Alright, I bought the game today. Started out as a Manager in Greensboro in rookie ball. But I have noted a problem, maybe you can help. Yes, you are correct, the GM does constantly move players, but check this out. The last move, he sent three guys up to A ball and gave me two in return. Problem is, I don't see them on my roster. I can't put the new guys into my line-up, cause I cant find them. I can click on their name in the email notification I got and it shows they are on my team, but when I go to insert them in my line-up, they are no where to be found. I don't know what the problem is or if I'm doing something wrong. I am doing a historical season starting in 1980. I don't know if that makes a difference or not. Sure is frustrating though...

Sorry I can't help you on where your players are hiding since I don't mess with minors.

I have and alot of others have attempted to do what you are doing, starting at the bottom and working your way up. I was never able to do it since the AI GM or whoever else was in charge of lineups would just murder my team in unreal fashion. One day they may take 3 of my top players, two days later I would loose my whole pitching staff, three days later they would release my new top hitter who was hitting .350, the list goes on and on.

After going through this time and time again, I gave up on trying to work my way to the top. These days, I just start at the top, so I don't have to be forced to deal with all of the headaches!

Well I advanced one week and the AI never displayed the players being moved to my team. I did notice all the moves and was hoping it would relax the closer to the ML I got. I think I too may get too frustrated. I deleted the file to start over, however, I don't know if I will. I started a 2010 season and may just roll with that one or a historical one.
