LOL, I hope he's not a very good GM for the sake of the league.

If he's very smart and talented and wins 3 in a row or 7 out of 10, folks will start asking questions even if there's no logical reason to do so. When money is involved, folks get a little more..... paranoid.

If your talking real players then no because we will be using fictional players. Just real teams.

He's not a commish or in the front office, he just helped create the league and come up with the idea. I see nothing that makes him fishy in that aspect.

question about an inaugural draft, do teams keep their minors? or do we have to draft those as well? makes a big difference in my team selection

Well just for clarification on the one owning a team. He has thought about doing a league like this for a long time. He even had rules set up and everything but just didnt pull the trigger on it. All he did was provide us his rules he had wrote out and Cooley did a little editing to it. So as far as him having any "control" over the league that can be put to rest right here

All players are in the pool. I'd doubt we'll draft deep enough to be drafting your minor leaguers, but if ownership wants to keep drafting, we will. A solid, lengthy draft makes for a solid ownership base.

To answer the contracts question from earlier, they'll likely be tiered salaries based on round selected and place in the round taken. Length could possibly be randomized on each player to get the initial contract numbers.

That'll be discussed amongst ownership, but I'd think it'll move in that direction. After the initial contract, its up to the owner as to whether to resign the player or let him go through free agency.

Just keep in mind. NO real players. So the Minors are really a moot point. The plan is to draft 25 rounds manually. If the league wants to draft more then we have no problem with that either. Its your money you are putting in so if you want full control over your team draft wise then I see no problem drafting till you have your team set.

I hope you'll give it a chance. I had never bothered with fictional either until I started a solo one for the heck of it. I've found I actually like fictional better now. Of course YMMV.

So are minors then autofilled? or how does that work to fill them out?

OOPS!

Oh man, TOTALLY my bad, I didn't read the rules first and sent in my app. I should've read the rules first. I'm so sorry.

Please remove my application if you got it. I had no intention of purchasing OOTP12 and so don't want to be forced into it by being in a league.

So very sorry for the mix-up. All my fault.

As I said before. We plan to do 25 rounds via statslab for the draft. If the owners want to keep going to start filling the minors I am completely fine with that. You can draft 30,40,50 rounds if you want. You can draft the whole thing if the majority of the league wants to. And if it is voted against moving the draft on then you will be able to set up draft lists in game to get you through the rest of the draft.

Just before you make that your final decision. I do not plan on moving to 12 if the majority of the league doesnt want to. I have no problem sticking with 11. I like it.

I plan to win enough before 12 comes out to cover the cost

I have checked on this thread enough over the past couple days to know that I am interested in the league concept.

I've been in a league run by Cooley in the past and he did an excellent job.

I'm just waiting to see if more people jump on board.

Have you guys thought about possibly reducing the number of charter teams to build a foundation for the league and then expand from there as demand for franchises increases?

Since you're using fictional players (which I prefer), why not just use fictional franchises as well?

Either way, I am interested and if more people sign up, I'd like to be involved in this.

Expansion is such a drain on exisiting teams/owners, we'd like to avoid that as many times as possible. We'll fill this, so fill out the app.

Keeping the existing franchises gives the league a small amount of 'credibility' from the get go, IMO. We have discussed some 'forms' of fictional teams such as allowing for new nicknames, but keeping the cities.
