Tell the AI to never play a player at a position?
Is it possible to block the AI from inserting a player at a position? I have players who have a 1 at a specific position, but the AI wants to insert them over better players at that position. For example, I have a backup outfielder who has a 15 at all 3 outfield positions and a 1 at shortstop. When I request for the AI to generate a depth chart based on my starting lineup, the AI inserts the outfielder as the first backup for shortstop even though I have 2 players who have better ratings at shortstop and are nearly as good hitters. This doesn't make any sense. It happens all the time, and it drives me crazy as it completely negates the convenience of having the Generate Depth Chart feature.

Difficult problem. The AI will regard any player that has a rating of any kind at a position as suitable for that position. That not only occurs in the depth chart but also when the AI makes fielding substitutions during a game.
If his low rating is due to a low experience rating at the position (you would have to look in the Editor to see this) then you could let the AI do what it is doing, and the guy will gain experience and be a more suitable SS at some point. If you never want the guy to play SS, you can always edit his fielding ratings in the Editor (as commissioner) so he no longer looks like a potential SS to the AI. I think those are pretty much the choices you have, though someone else may have figured out another workaround solution. |
