Fictional Lahman Database
Is there a way to have the game create a fictional Lahman type database from a league so that you can recreate the league later and import the rookies year by year?

I not sure I understand what you are trying do. What I think you are asking is that instead of starting baseball in 1871 can I start baseball in 1941 and still have the players come out in sequence.
If that is the case, it is something I can do with my randonization process.

Thanks for the response. I don't think I asked my question right.
What I want to do is take the fictional league I have (about 70 years of history) and create a Lahman type database from it, so that I can recreate that old fictional league. |

Can't say I have tried that (or heard of it being done), but logically this is what has to happen.
Export your league to .csv files. Using those files manually build the set of lahman .csv files master, batting, pitching, fielding, fieldingOF, Uni, team and team frachise files would be my guess. You will have to create your own Lahman IDs for the players, since that is the Lahman linkage mechanism. Now comes the hard part. You will have to create values for the OOTP Lahman master file. These are fields OOTP adds to the master.csv file to handle pitching, fielding and AI draft value. Some of these can probably be pulled from .csv files you exported, but I don't know if all the data is there. I'll defer to further wisdom on the subject, but that is at least the steps. Good luck

It will take some time to do so, but is entirely possible.

The capability of a fictional lahman (or a way to import from the csv files the game exports) has been my only wish on my OOTP wishlist for 3 years now. |

A fictional Lahman could be created (not from a user's league) easily. Take the lahman and randomize the first and last name fields. I know, I know........you'd still be getting 'Lou Gehrig' in his debut year only with a fictional name, but it WOULD create a fictional Lahman. At least I believe that would work. I'm not sure of how much the Lahman relies on the 'other' files inside its folder. |
