Specific game crashing

Oy,

I'm in my 4th simmed season. A game between LA and HOU (both computer controlled teams) for 7/24/02 keeps causing my game to crash with the 'OOTP has generated errors' message.

The only thing unusual I could see, other than Raman Martinez being 8-3 with a 3.58 ERA, was that Jose Vidro's name was colored green. I tried taking him out of the lineup and playing the game manually, which didn't work. I tried changing lineups completly for both teams. I tried sending Vidro down to AAA as well as releasing him completely, but the game still crashes.

I'm running Win2K with SP2, and all the critical updates. P3-550, 640 megs of RAM, ATI Radeon 64 DDR, Western Digital 20 Gig HD, Sound Blaster X-Gamer, 56k faxmodem, and a Netgear 10/100 ethernet card.

Hopefully someone has a workaround. Thanks.

Try running automanager (league setup --> Run Computer Manager ...) and then try to sim the day again. Also I guess make sure you reboot after a crash/freeze.

If that does not work: There are some other little things like that you can try but that's what I'd do 1st. This sounds like a historical league, it could be related to that - if there is anything else about the league you could describe that might be helpful. I have yet to get a crash from OOTP4 so that makes it tougher to advise, if others have experienced this I urge them to add some input.

Yes, it is a historical league, Lahman database, started with the 1999 season. I'll try the automanage option and see what happens.
