Falling Stars

I just traded for a pitcher who was rated 4 stars prior to the trade. I completed the trade an immediately this guy is now rated one star!!! Why?
Do different scouts rate players differently?.....

The difference may be that scouts rate players within their own organization more accurately.

Or less accurately. In the NBA, the Knicks gave up a younger, hard-working 20-10 guy in David Lee, to bring in Amare Stoudemire, a guy who is paid a lot more, has bad knees, doesn't work hard, dislikes rebounding, and doesn't even try to play defense. Everyone who even remotely follows the NBA knows that Lee is a much better player. The Knicks scouts apparently disagree (somehow). The equivalent in OOTP is that Lee would be a 3-4 star player according to every scout in the league except for the Knicks, who would rank him a 2 at most; while Stoudemire would be a 2-2 1/2 star player for every scout in the league except for the Knicks who think he's a 3 1/2-4 star player. I would bet money that the Knicks are dead wrong, but only time can tell. In real life there can be a lot of disparity in scouting and the same exists in the game (if you select that option, of course).

The game however notes in the manual that scout's reports are more accurate, on average of course, for players who in the organization vs. outside the organization.

True. It averages out to favor the inside players. Still, in RPG parlance, your team could still botch the roll.

By the way, as a Knicks fan, I think this analysis is spot on.
