Talent Only Leagues?
Can someone please explain to me what a talent only league is? I am currently in a league where the coaches are turned off, but the scouts are turned on. So depending on your scout, you could have a completely different view on a player then another GM.
I am assuming that with scouts turned off, everyone sees the exact same ratings on a player. Thanks |

A "talent only" league is a hybrid of a standard league and a stats only league. Typically, the talent only league eliminates all current ratings for hitting and pitching. The potential or "talent" ratings are left visible. The appeal of the league is that the fog of war is substantially higher, but the drafting aspect of the game and the future star prospects are still reasonably easy to spot.
Determining when they've made the jump to the next level becomes a bit of an issue and there are still some "crystal ball" downsides with this approach. The biggest one is that older players that are going to flame out give advance notice when their potential levels drop earlier than their current ratings. Overall, its a very fun way for someone to play that wants the fog of war of the stats only type leagues, but doesn't want to spend an enormous amount of time delving through the minor league/free agent stats. |
