MLB the SHow vs. OOTP

So I use to play OOTP in the past but I got kind of bored with the whole simming aspect and decided to get back into MLB the Show. Well after playing MLB the show and not being able to hit for the past 3 months I decided to download OOTP 11 demo.

Out of the park is pretty in depth, always was but at times i can that "i can't control my team feeling as you can control it in MLB the show.

What do you think is better? OOTP? More depth

First and foremost please remember that OOTP produces far more realistic results than any console games. Some console games have improved their depth in franchise modes over the years, but OOTP still offers way more options/rules/features and has the far better simulation engine.

They are hard to compare because they do different things. It's a great feeling to guess right on a pitch and hammer it. Or really get in a groove and pitch a great game. But it's great to build a winner or steal a productive guy form the Rule 5 draft or make your own uniforms in OOTP too.

I will say I've probably played about 50 hrs of MLB the Show and probably several thousand hrs of OOTP in my lifetime. So I guess the proof is in the pudding.

The dream game would be OOTP combined with a great graphic animated game.

Anyone here played the Front Page Baseball series back in the 90's? It was a step in the right direction, too bad they cancelled it.

Your right there its a pretty big difference playing general manager/manager then it is playing gm/manager/player as you do in the Show. I like them both, prolly give in a purchase the full copy of OOTP11. I had hours of time invested in previous versions.

I find that both games have given me hours upon hours of enjoyment. For the price, picking up the latest version of OOTP is a steal IMHO.

I've played both and enjoyed both but OOTP is the game for a serious baseball fan. Casual fans might not like the depth (even though there are options to make it as simple or complicated as you want). Like I said, I own and have played both but far, far more hours go into OOTP that The Show. I imagine managers and GM's in real life also get that "I can't control my team feeling"...lol

MLB the Show is available only on console and not for the computer.

OOTP is available only on the computer and not for console.

These two don't have to compete, two completely different games - enjoy them both!

This is like asking what's better, The Legend of Zelda, or backgammon?

OOTP and MLB The Show are two totally different games that seek to provide totally different experiences. No one who wanted what OOTP offers would be satisfied w/ The Show, and no one who wanted to play arcade baseball would be satisfied by OOTP. It's a ridiculous question.

For the record, both games are excellent.

More a computer compatibility nightmare than anything else.

Yep, once they got the bugs out

I personally think the Football series with that play editor was the best computer game ever.

At first, I was not prepared to suspend my natural skepticism and embrace these far-reaching, grandiose claims! After much careful consideration, however, I have decided that you know what you are talking about. No, no, don't thank me.

I disagree strongly. But that's a different thread.

I did. Loved it. I still have FPS Baseball 96 on my shelf, the one with Randy Johnson on the cover. But when I played it I always found myself wishing it could be more.

Then I discovered one of the early versions of OOTP and that was it! I've been in baseball sim heaven ever since.

I downloaded a free version of The show, i played for about 2 months, nevr had more then 4 hits in agame won 3 games out of 70. i switched to OOTP and have never looked back. I even took High heat 2003 off my Pc because i couldnt do in there what i could do in OOTP. yes i would love to have a chance to see my 3 time MVP SS field a ball deep in the hole behind 2B spin and throw a speedy leadoff hitter out at 1B, but that will be in OOTP 15, for the time being i am happy with my 2 baseball universes ABF and EBL i have fianlly found a game and mod community where i can re create a league i have played since 1989. i now have all but 5 uniforms for my various teams. i have all the unique cities in for teh various planets my players are from for my EBL. every game has flaws, but to me the 1's on OOTP r minor compared to HH2k3 and The Show.

Sammy Sosa High Heat Baseball and FPS Baseball 96 were my baseball sims for years. Then I found OOTP5 and I've been hooked every since. OOTP for the win!

I would say comparing these 2 games is like comparing Apples to Oranges.
