Did anyone else catch the disgrace that happened in the ring after Strikeforce tonight? It's incidences like that which turned me away from boxing. I'd go as far as saying it was setup, but Jake Shields seemed pretty upset about it afterwards.

I just read about it. The fact of the matter is, MMA attracts certain types of people. It's inevitable that things like this happen from time to time. This does not excuse what happened, in fact it it means that promoters like Dana White and Scott Coker have a responsibility to nip these problems in the bud. Shields should be punished, not because he did anything wrong but because his entourage acted on his behalf, they should be punished as a group. Whether it be stripped of the title or fined.
This is 2 weeks in a row where MMA has received a black eye, first with Silva and now with Shields (thought he was not directly responsible). If MMA ever wants to be taken seriously it needs to ensure that people do not question the legitimacy of the sport. As an MMA fan myself, I'm already getting turned off with the actions of the fighters. If I wanted to watch 2 frat guys roll around on the ground, I'd go to the bar. |

And Shogun takes the belt from Machida. Was wholly a different fight in almost every way.
But as if MMA didn't need another controversy, Paul Daley cheap shots Josh Koscheck after their fight. Wonder if we'll be seeing him in the UFC anymore. |

announced on post fight that hes been cut from ufc. not endorsing it, but i want to hear what koscheck was saying in his ear the whole third round. he admitted it was worse than ragging on daley's mother. if it was anything race related, i wouldnt honestly mind the late punch to the face..

That was the kind of sucker punch that gets someone banned from MMA in North America. I highly doubt he'll be given a license to fight anywhere (unless it's in a cheap Indian reservation casino show) for a long time.

While anything is possible when it comes to Koscheck's mouth, that would surprise me a bit given Josh's own genetic makeup.

Overall I thought it was a pretty good PPV. Was hoping for a little longer fight between Rua and Machida but I can't complain because it was a pretty good fight.
I'm not condoning what Daley did, but I don't like Koscheck in the slightest so I find myself really not caring that much about what happened. |

Although I skipped it not expecting an upset, that's exactly what happened last night as Fabricio Werdum submits Fedor Emelianenko.

Maybe we'll stop hearing all the Fedor lovers scream that he would destroy Brock Lesnar. Of course that may still happen if Carwin takes Lesnar to school.

Even if Brock gets past Carwin (which I'm beginning to doubt), he'll be hard pressed to then make it through Cain Velazquez and Junior Dos Santos (assuming he beats Roy Nelson). Dos Santos, mind you, is the same guy that blasted Werdum not too long ago. I'd still like to see Brock vs. Fedor at some point, but it might be "past it prime" by then (see Liddell vs Silva).

Big card tomorrow with a ton of potentially exciting fights. First and foremost being Lesnar vs. Velasquez. Also get the UFC debut of Jake Shields who may be the last threat to GSP's crown. I'm looking forward to every one of the main card fights and even the undercard fights have a couple of gems.
I'm not particularly good at picking fights (about as good as a coin), but here's what I got going down: Schaub over Gonzaga - KO Hamill over Ortiz - Decision Thiago over Sanchez - submission (choke) Shields over Kampmann - Decision Lesnar over Velasquez - TKO I think Velasquez will have trouble with Brock's size and doesn't have Carwin's KO power. Brock will wear him down in the first with top control then pound him out in the second. |

Did Brock win you over with his victory over Carwin?

A little bit, although I think Carwin showed the way to beat Brock. I bet the person that will end up beating Brock will be a heavy handed striker. Either Junior Dos Santos or Carwin (in a rematch) does it. I don't think Velasquez has the punching power to pull it off. Though, he does have good, fast striking.

I watched the Brock / Carwin match recently on SpikeTV. Another referee may have ended that match in the first when Carwin was pounding away and Lesnar was covering up. I don't think I really like Brock, but I do think he is good for the sport and would like to see him continue to win because it does make a good story.
I really wish it was Liddell vs Ortiz. At least that would have generated some heat for the fight.

Wow, Brock got Rocked.
He took it like a man though. Diego Sanchez was the highlight of the night though, the rest of the card was a snore. |

WOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
The card was a little boring. But I did enjoy the Gonzaga fight and the Tito/Hammill fight.
