Rollover on Runs allowed for pitchers

Couldn't find any other posts with this problem and its happened to me a couple of times.

The problem I have is that it looks like pitchers are only allowed to give up so many runs during a season before it rolls back to zero and starts over again. This tends to cause problems with the stats and the awards as these pitchers who obviously haven't pitched very well, tend to win the Cy Young. Here's my example:

Byron Houck - SP - 31 Years of Age

Not sure how easy that is to read, but in 1920, Houck went 8-29 with a 0.19 ERA. He also gave up 505 hits and 182 walks. While this is theoretically possible, its very unlikely.

Then again in 1922, Houck went 11-27 with a 0.49 ERA. He gave up 509 hits and 168 walks. Again this is technically possible, but his game logs proved that he had given up somewhere in the range of 70-80 runs in his past 10 games.

Now I know that most pitchers would probably never see the light of day if they gave up as many runs as this guy has, however, the game obviously wants to keep putting him out there no matter how pitiful his performances are. So this creates a problem not only with the Record Books, but with the fact that the last 3 Cy Young winners in my American League have been:

1920 Byron Houck - 8-29 0.19 ERA
1921 Raymond Bressler - 14-26 0.45 ERA
1922 Byron Houck - 11-27 - 0.49 ERA

Since this is a simulation, and simulations are based on stats, anyway to fix this?

The game only counts to like 255, so when any stat (could be certain ones, but I'm not sure) reaches 256, it starts over. I think that's your problem. Unfortunately, there's really no way to fix it. You could shorten the season or go on a smaller rotation, or possibly adjust the league totals so he won't allow too many runs. Those are the only solutions I can think of.

If you will do a search for the number 255 or 256(I think) you will find a number of posts on this topic.

Not a big deal. I can manually edit the record books which is pretty nice and with the almanac, I can go back and figure out who should be the Cy Young in each season. As far as the career stats, its not like these guys are among the all-time leaders or anything.

Little bit more detail about it, in 1920 I did the era change to the Golden Age which is when the problem began. Usually its only one pitcher every year, always in the AL (I have the DH turned on in that league which may factor in to it too since pitchers tend to stay in longer). Longer outings, plus better hitting, and 4 more teams than originally probably all factor in to this.
