Ok, so when does it all end? I need a challenge!
Ok, so I've been the GM of the Phillies for 47 years now. I'm 86 years old, have made the playoffs all 47 years (45 years in 1st place, twice in 2nd place as a wild card), won the World Series 23 times, won manager of the year 30 times, and have a record of 4592-2663 (.650).
Two questions: 1) Will this end? Will I suddenly "die" like one of the owners? Will I be forced into retirement? 2) Assuming I keep playing (I'm beginning to get a tad bored from the lack of challenge and think I need a break from this game for a while), what are some things I can do to make the game more challenging? I know one thing I can do is make the computer trades a little harder, since sometimes the computer will offer me the player I want in exchange for a fourth-round pick and a 1-star player (salary dump)?. I generally don't draft many players. I find it's easier to trade away draft picks for young players. Why waste money on signing bonuses for players that turn out to be stiffs? Why waste time trying to decide whom to draft? Let the computer go through all that, and then I can trade for them later. Besides, after the first round or two, there's nobody higher than two-star potential except for MR, and I'm loaded with them already. Thanks for the input. Hopefully I can come up with some ideas besides trading difficulty. |

Online leagues are your next step for challenge. Nothing brings out the thrill of victory like beating 30 fellow human GM's that are viciously cut-throat to obtain the ring.

Thanks for the suggestions, guys, but you still haven't answered my other question: Will the game "end" my career (death, illness, etc), or will this league go on forever with me as the GM as long as I choose to? If I'm going to play "Stats Only", I think it's only fair if I start over from scratch with all new random players, so should I retire myself now, or will my end come on its own?

never stuck around for that many years, so i am not sure if the game will end. You could try jacking up the talent randomness. That will give you some more difficulty.

No; in one league I am 134 years old and the facegen picture is half its normal size.

Unfortunately, death has not been implemented in OOTP.
