changin images not coming through
I am new to OOTP but I am a web designer in the real world. I have been exploring the html and css and decided to start customizing. I started with something simple, changing the background image for the BNN Home page. I created a new image and replaced it in the templates/images folder. I double checked the bnn_home_page.tpl file by viewing it in design mode in dreamweaver and the background image was changed. However, when I start the game, it does not change the background image inside the game.
Am I missing something on how the game reads the image files? |

Files in the images folder will only effect html pages outside the game. to get them to work in-game, you must change the images from within the skin.
First, the skin folder is located under C:\Program Files\Out of the Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 11\data\skins. You will need to download the extractable version you are using. you can download them here or within the game, from add on central. Next extract that into your skins directory and place your modified files into the images folder. You will also need to rename the original BIN file to something else, or the game will continue to us that (i usually name it skin.ORG. When you open the game it should automatically regenerate the skin using the modified files. Last edited by edm; 08-20-2010 at 12:42 AM. |

I haven't used or modified any skins myself, but it should work the same way with new skins. Just make sure you are extracting the files into the images folder, overwriting the old ones.

And if I'm using the ootp default skin, is that the skin.bin file I am changing the name of? If so, the next time the game opens, will it open with a different skin? Do I just need to switch back to the oopt default skin and thats when I should see the new skin (which creates a new skin.bin file in the ootp default skin folder?) Thanks for the help. |

Sounds like you're missing a step..possibly. Download the skin you want to use from addons central. Once downloaded, you need to install it from addons central. If you don't see the "install" option after download is complete, you need to go back to addons central and click on download the same skin. Then the install option should show. Click on it and it will be extracted. Then make you're changes. Don't delete the original skin, but rename it. Then exit and restart the game and it will rebuild the skin and you're changes should be present..Been awhile since I've done this, but pretty sure it's how I did it.
More info if needed: The downloaded skins files will be located in the Data\downloads\OOTP 11 Skins\skins\ootp default\ and subfolders...make the changes there. Then drag and drop or copy the "ootp default" folder with all the sub folders to the data\skins folder (Remember to rename the original folder first). Depending on which skin file you are changing, the folder named "ootp default" may be different. It could be 1.Ootp default, 2.ootp dark or 3.ootp classic depending on which you are modifying, but whichever, it's the one you copy to the data\skins folder. Hope this makes sense.
