Dead Ball Logo help needed
I am having so much fun playing as the Red Soxs (Pilgrams) but I would like to get more accurate logos for the league. I am presently using a 1920's set that is good but not exactly what I wanted. I did a search and found this old like Dead Ball Logo's but it is down. Anyone know how or where to get a set that more closely follows the early 1900's (ie.. 1903 is where I am at now). Thank You.

Thank you for pointing me to that site. I am sure that it will work great. One question though, How would I go about taking those images and getting them into my game? Any special way? Thanks

Just right click, copy and paste into your photo shop or other program. Or right click and save to your hard drive.
Go Pedro!

My search for accurate logos from the deadball era and beyond turned up the result that for the most part teams really didn't have logos (at least as we understand them today) until the 1930's. For example the Yankee logo we are all familiar with didn't exist until 1936, the Indians didn't use a related logo until the late 1920's, and the Detroit's first tiger logo didn't appear until 1927 (which was promptly dropped the next year in favor of returning to the Old English "D"). Even the trademark Yankee "NY" went through several variations.
But I still wanted a consistent, accurate logo set for 1901 and beyond and found out the only way to do get something completely accurate was to go to the uniform worn during the year. (Caps don't work... too many the same... just plain or plain with some stripes.) So I began what turned out to be a large and lengthy project (larger than I expected at least; there are hundreds of uniforms. Unlike today they changed almost annually.).... reproducing the uniforms for all teams (home, road and alternates) from 1901 through 2003 for use as in-game logos. They aren't as snazzy as the modern logos but they are as accurate and consistent as I can make them. And what the heck, they are pretty interesting to just look at and see how styles changed over the years (that's what got me hooked on finishing them.) You can download them at Baseball Sim Central http://baseballsimcentral.com/dloads...Park_5/Extras/ There is a JPG version or if you don't want to do the conversion (renaming doesn't convert) and can download a large file, a BMP version. |
