Changing team names
If you change the name of a team mid-dynasty, does the team keep its history?
1. Ex.: The Omaha Cornhuskers are in a league for 20 years. I change their name to Nebraska Tornadoes prior to the 21st year. When I look at the league/Nebraska team's history, will I see the results of the "Nebraska" team's previous 20 years, or the Omaha team's history, or will I see nothing? 2. Will a player who will play for Nebraska this year be shown as having played for Omaha last year, or "Nebraska" last year? 3. Like #2 above, but re: retired players? 4. Has this changed in OOTP11 from prior versions (I have had a OOTP9 game and am curious)? Thanks for answering these questions and for any other advice re: this subject.

Here you go:
1. If they stay the same franchise, the history will remain 2. In the history, it will show Omaha, but in news items showing stats it will show Nebraska 3. Same thing, except if you try to do something to their picture, it will change to the current team's uniform 4. I do not know, but I think it's been the same If something doesn't make sense, I can show you a screenshot. |

i am curious about that too...i have about 8 teams in my EBL that change names throughout their history...but i do play a 1871-2010 historical league and i havent seen any changes with loss of history but i would imagine it to be different then a fictional league

I only play fictional (with unsuccessful attempts at an MLB games) and from personal experience since about Season Ticket Baseball (OOTP4) there has never been history loss after name changes.

I relocated my team, and all the history went with me, and all the stats followed too. There are a few players left from the Columbus days: On their player page, it'll say 2018 Columbus ML... and then 2019 San Antonio ML

You do not lose any history when changing a team name or relocating of a franchise.

However, if you mess with that kind of stuff before the preseason starts, the previous season gets listed under the new name.
