Exporting players to a new game?

After running into a few problems with the .15 and .17 patch, I decided to see if it was possible to export players from an existing solo league to a new one that hasn't been tinkered with yet.

I took a gander at the OOTP 11 manual section on Import/Export, but before I did anything, I wanted to ask a few questions that weren't covered there:

First of all, what is exported? Just the names and the teams, or would their ratings/attributes go with them?

Second, I understand you can export/import stats in the same way. Would I have to do any editing, or can I just transfer them over as with the players?

Third, is it possible to export league settings to a new league (as above with the players), or would I just be better off starting from scratch?

Thanks for the help.

My only contribution to make on this is:

when you export your roster, be sure to take careful note of the team IDs. I assume you want the imported players to be on certain teams and in certain organizations. You have to be sure you are getting those things matched up per the team IDs.

Team ID's for EACH player? *horrified*

Man, that would be a huge task.

Actually, if you look at an exported roster, you will understand and not be spooked by it. I was just trying to make the point that the game identifies players affiliations by an ID# (which, if you were surprised by that, means you should be very careful about what you are trying to do.

Thank you for the words of wisdom, dude. I've never mucked around with any of this stuff, or any of the database stuff, so I really have no idea how it works. I guess the best thing to do is backup the league and play with it.

Thanks again for your help!
