Converting to 11

I've looked and scanned this site for an hour and I know it is here, but I cannot locate it.

When is the best time to convert from 10 to 11 in the game season?

It's an individual choice.

Some recommend during the off-season, some during the pre-season.

I've converted leagues mid season for many versions and never had a problem.

I can't find it right now, but there is a recommendation in the manual somewhere.

Doesn't matter, but after the conversion, if you are running a historical league, check to make sure the league setup is pointing to the stats folder in your OOTP11 game (to get historical rookies) -- and not still pointing to the stats folder in your old game. This should be fixed in a future patch, but can still be an issue until then

Oh ... and this is purely speculative, but if you are using ghost players in your league, I would turn them off and run the league one day (if you can), before converting. Don't know what the effect would be, one way or the other, but this may help to avoid some problems involving ghost players importing over with the conversion.

Never heard of this before myself. I would think turning them off and running a day would create a headache if it's during the season just because you might find yourself with a lot of teams suddenly not having complete line-ups in the minors. You would then be forced to go in and set every minor league line-up for every team just to get through that day.

As for ghost players converting over, I don't see how that would have any effect. If you're using ghost players, then you're using ghost players. They are, afterall, just imaginary players with no names or stats or anything else.

Yep, that's a possible problem, though I think it is a bigger risk after the Sept call-ups. Depending on the size of your league organizations, you could always take a look around to see if the minor league teams look shorthanded.

In any event, I'm not saying this is an essential step, but I have seen strange things happen with ghost players. You could always do the conversion, and if you see "Joe Unknown" showing up in rosters or lists, then you could go back and try this step before converting again.
