error initializing setup

It says could not initialize installation, that the file size expected is larger then the file size returned, parameters are incorrect....anybody who knows what this error means and how i can fix it and get playing ootp4, your help would be greatly appreciated, I had to wait an hour and a half for the thing to load with my slow dialup connection transferring at 2.46 kb/sec and i cant wait to play, thanks in advance guys

I have some bad, bad, bad, bad news for you my friend. I had the same problem with OOTP3. The same error. You have a virus. Yes it's true, a small bitch virus eating your install files in your system.

This did NOT come off OOTP. All I can suggest is backup needy files, and do a User Restore and install a Virus Program, that fixed my issues.

don't know abaot a virus, hopefully not. But it sounds like the install may not have completely downloaded.

Try using a download manager like <a href="http://www.flashget.com" target="_blank">flashget</a>, then try re-downloading it. That way if it doesn't completely download again, flashget will let you resume where it cuts off.

WinZip also creates this problem, I've read around on the net and sometimes a bad install of WinZip will mess up a few system files.

Pete - that message means an incomplete download of the OOTP4 installation file. You will have to empty your browser cache, delete the file you downloaded and download the OOTP4 install file again.

To empty your browser cashe in IE go to TOOLS --> Internet Options --> then delete all temporary internet files.

PCline26 - Sorry to have to be contrary, but at the same time I guess this is good news for AlomarJr.15. Some virus's could cause an error message similar to that, but computer virus's are rare and we've already seen many posts describing those symptoms for an incomplete download. Unfortunately the incomplete downloads are a fact of computer life when downloading a large 13 MB file on a dial-up modem

Thanks to everyone for the quick reply's, im sure you all know my worries when i may not be able to play my favorite game...im hoping its not a virus and i will try downloading the game again hopefully this will work and it was just an incomplete download, thanks again guys
